I really like the way Joe has made his tournaments. I really like the idea of Belt holding Champions and Number 1 Contenders. It keeps it very interesting and makes it fun for everyone. Gotta love the triple elimination too.

I love it as well John. Truly I just love pulling. Not so focused on the supermatch thing yet. I'm just not there yet I guess, but I would pull a quintuple every week if I could!!! Love to pull.

I think you're too old for a quintuple.

Hahahaha, I had a few comebacks but decided to take the high road. I had to sit down and catch my breath before continuing on it though. Steep climb. Whew!!!!

I like tripple elimination idea , although if it was at an elite level wear and tear would catch up , on an old bastard like me , only good thing about being old is I still have a full head of hair , cause not much else still works. LOL

All settings are fine as long as you have enough tables and refs so that the competition doesn't last too long. JMO

I agree, if you keep the action moving triple elimination is what I prefer. The extra chance to pull makes things a little more fun. I'm guessing more pro's would prefer the standard double elimination style because at that level who wants to have to beat a guy three times to get him out of the way. I would like to hear from more pros on this, I'm curious.

I guess it depends on what you prefer. Some prefer to go one on one because all you have to worry about is that one person's technique and uniqueness. If you go regular or even triple elimination then you have a chance of avoiding some tough competition as you remain on the A side of the bracket. That's just one aspect, and with this thought I guess that's why many pullers decide to challenge one on one and call it "supermatch". I like all settings because it gives you more choices on what type of tourney you would like to pull. Once again JMO

I was initially at a stalemate and not knowing how to vote on this poll. At first , I thought an Arm Wars style supermatch would guarantee top notch performance which I would enjoy seeing. But , as i read it, it says "compete" so my mind changed to the triple elimination that Joe Gould puts on. I love watching supermatches (as long as they're top notch competitors and not just local yokels) and a triple elim. Maybe I just wanna see Conrad vs. Daylan ;D ;D ;D

None of the above! Double elimination with supermatches would be my choice! Triple elimination gives too much advantage to the undefeated puller on the "A" side. A puller that loses early would have to win way too many matches on the "B" side before they pull the final match. JMO

Right now, I prefer triple elimination for two reasons: 1) I get to pull more matches, and 2) the final standings are more representative.
In double elimination there is the element of chance, which some people may like, and others dislike. Because of how the brackets work, in a six person class it's possible for the fifth best puller to take third, and for the fourth best puller to take last. In other words, double elimination can cuase someone to finish either higher or lower than they would in a triple elimination (or seeded) format. In my first few years as a competitor, I thought it was fun to get a lucky bracket and place in the top three, when looking at who was in the class before the tournament started I felt I had very little chance of placing.
So I guess I would say that if I am one of the favourites to place in a class, I would prefer triple elimination as it would help ensure I finish where I would expect to finish. If I was not one of the favourites, then I might prefer double elimination, because with a little luck, I could finish higher than expected.
If I was a spectator with no knowledge of the sport, I would prefer to watch a single elimination event, with no weight classes. As a competitor though, I would probably never want to compete in such an event (unless I didn't have to travel).
