Could we add a "Bounty" element to this tournament Eric? Such as small gifts/cash/prize (whatever) for knocking out certain players? It adds a fun element to the tournament and also encourages looser play... which is always good.

Possibly. I'll need to look into this a bit more.

Is anyone willing to admit that they are strong poker players, and should do well in this event? Do any of you play regularly? I play only a couple of times a year. I'm usually able to knock a few people out, but almost never win the whole thing because I take too many risks.

How about a bounty like on poker after dark, ie. if someone wins a hand with 10 2 and shows it, the table pays him two bucks each, or what ever the set amount is.

Here are a few more details about the poker tournament: - The tournament is open to all Nationals competitors as well as those involved in running the event (referees, scorekeepers, etc.).
- All participants must be at least 18 years of age.
- The buy-in will be $20.
- This will be a basic no-limit texas hold'em poker tournament, with no bounties, no re-buys, etc.
- We will be aiming to start at exactly at 8pm. Blinds will go up every 17 minutes, with a 9 minute break at the end of each hour.
- The goal will be to have the tournament completely wrapped up in about 3 hours.
- There will be 8 players per table. With one table or less, the payout will be to the top 3 finishers (entry fees distributed in a 50/30/20 split). For every additional table, an extra person will finish in the money (e.g. 2 tables = top 4 make money, 3 tables = top 5 make money) and the percentage splits will be slightly adjusted.
Tournament rules will be explained in more detail prior to the event at 7:45pm. Please note that participation in the event requires a basic knowledge of the game. All interested participants should show up to the venue (the same hall as where the armwrestling is being held) to register between 7:15 and 7:40pm. I want to thank Jeff Slater for putting together the details and helping to run this event.
