I haven't been on the board in a few day's I just opened this thread up and saw all the comments on hear about me. Joel I am sorry truly. I am sorry to all the people I offended. I am not going to try to convince anyone that what I am about to say is true or not but Here it is. I was completely joking with my comments about Joel in fact i made reference to it at marks when i said i hope i don't jinked him lol! I am sorry that I did not get on the board right after I posted to see how my comments were taken but I really do like Joel and the Buckhorn guys. I guess it's not reciprocated. I was proud of Joel being Canadian and having pulled in Ottawa and wining the Mike Gould Classic. I even said i was jealous what an honour it is.
Joel I'm trying to lose weight. But I'm not sure i can convince you that I'm not an a*sh*le.
Janet I'm sorry you were in raged by my comments at times i look for a rise out of people. This was tongue and cheek.
Jake I'm Sorry that you may have a negative opinion of me. I am a huge fan of you and wish you the best in the future.
In terms of the camera stuff and me not pulling well I guess I should explain myself. I haven't pulled at the Arnold's and or Arm wars yet in my career and i made the commitment to try theses events. it was unfortunate that they were so close to our Ontario events I spoke with Mike and i told him I would not miss another MGC as long as could make them do to work.
Point to note I am filming theses events with top of the line cameras in hopes to produce highlight reels for Ontario pullers to assit them in gaining sponsorships. Once i gain experience from Scott I hope to approach T.V. and show them that there's is potential ratings in our sport and it deserves the coverage. So if I am filming all of you am am not filming me in shameless self promotion which I have to admit has been my MO.
I love the OAA I am always searching for our next level Ontario arm wrestling has achieved a special caliber and needs an ultimate stage or have an option for one. I am grateful for the relationships I have had and gained through our great sport. I feel after reading what I wrote i can see how people felt it had a malicious undertone to it. However i would ask each and everyone of you who like or dislike me to ask yourself if being malicious is a characteristic of mine.
Joel again I'm sorry

I would like to add something as well. I re-read the post again and i feel it was obvious to me that I had taken a joking tone..After my Congrates to everyone i started laying into Mark and Joel. Clearly two guys who are doing right by the sport. I guess there's allot of prople that had stuff to get of there chest about me and i provided the oportunity. Guy I really don't have understand what has happened between the buckhorn and me even when I am not pulling i am at every event which is more then i can say for allot of people i bring my son and new pullers on a regular bassis and i beleive it was your event where i broughtJohn K and Darline to. I spend alott of money on this sport in hotels an equipment and I have paid for registration fees to some of marks and mikes events donated on a few other occasions for speacialty awards even thogh I did't pull the event. i am a fan of all of you guys and I am saddened that we seem to be at odds with eachother.

THIS is what "taking the high road is about".
Ian you handled this very well. I don't understand the hate you've been getting over this. The name calling, comments about you using people, etc is terrible.
I can't tell you not to take this to heart because I know that is the kind of guy you are. You give more to the sport (with no return) than most armwrestlers in Ontario.
Ian has made or is in the midst of making profile videos for many competitors with no benefit to him. It takes hours to put together something like this for a simple thank you. He's donated and is planning to donate very generous amounts of money to our Ontario athletes just like he said he would. He supports tournaments by attending, shooting video and even paying entry fees when he isn't even going to compete. He is also trying to put together a professional armwrestling league here in Ontario that pays our athletes and promotes them on a larger scale than they could/would get otherwise. Not exactly typical of someone who "uses" people.
For those of you who know him and what he's like you should be ashamed. Yes, Ian does speak freely but never with bad intentions. I would wager he would have not said any of this to any of you if the shoe was on the other foot.
Joel do you honestly think that "a fat a*sh*le who thinks he better then he really is comes on here and try to embarrass someone." is a fair statement?
Do you honestly think that his intentions were to embarrass you? I think you're being WAY too sensitive. After that statement you tell Ian he is the one who needs to grow up?? Really? Leading by example I see.

Absolute horse sh*t... Anyone that even remotely knows Ian, knows that his intentions are never malicious. Whether u like him or not, he donates more time & $$ then most. I ve had issues with Ian before, but it never regarded a negetive attitude towards his fellow aw ers.
"raged?" Janet?? Really? Give me a break.
I d like to hear from Joel on this, because I'm certain he took no offense to Ian's initial post

I have not sure what to even say about this thread. I makes my sad to think that so much hatred can come from an obviously made in jest statement.
Do I think Ian could have stated it differently? Yes
Do I think Ian said what he said to be mean or disrespectful? No
Do I think a few people on this board are hypocritical? Yes
Do I think Ian has a unique way of looking at things sometimes? Yes
I have been running tournaments for over 20 years and I can honestly say in my opinion there is more disrespect in this sport at this moment then I have ever seen. It makes me very mad and very seriously considering retirement from all aspects of this sport. It has nothing to do with turnout at my tournament either. Why would I want to invest in this sport the way I do if this is the stuff I am going to read afterward.
Ian paid an entry fee at my tournament for support. He and Scott decided previous to the event that he would help with the video.
Please people. Think about what you are typing before you hit Post Reply. Just my opinion.

Ian obviously to you, you could tell you took a joking tone.. I find it hard to know the tone someone is using when your not actually talking. Your comment did seem like you were trying to put him down. And when I said something about the camera thing I simply ment that's something to focus on rather than Joel. I do appreciate what your doing for the sport Ian. I didn't like the way your comment came off however.

Ian, first off there is nothing "between" Buckhorn and you. You brought this up to me on the phone a while ago and I told you that then too. I was defending a teammate, same as John. You say you were joking and I will take your word for it, but next time maybe add something positive in it. According to John and Chris I have been known for being too sensitive.
To me that is jargon for "I can say what I want and you cannot dislike it". I personally have no ill will towards you and hope the best for you in your journey to Germany. But I will stand by my teammates when I feel they are being slighted. If that makes me a bad person then so be it.
Noone was getting shots at you over this. Joel already felt remorse, (as I told him he would), after. Thats why we need to as Mark already said, really think about it before we hit Post Reply. I have nothing but appreciation for our Ontario band of brothers and its too bad the board carries with it the lack of being able to shoot back and forth like over the table at Nationals. Less stress.
Words dont have to have a malicious backing to demean or destroy. Sometimes it can just wreck your good mood.
So in closing Ian, as you would put it, BUCKHORN HAS NO ILL WILL TOWARDS YOU WHATSOEVER!!! (Thats your capslock joke right there).

Yes Joel.
I think it's crazy that you thought I would actually hate on you? really Joel I mean what indication have I ever given to you that I disliked or disrespected you. I accept your appology. I like to have fun on the board and at times make fun but its out of affection. All is good I'll buy you a beer next event.

Ian I personaly think you are doing great things for this sport and I hope in no way does this posts. Comments change your drive to make armwrestling in canada a house hold name. You are one of the nicest most helpfull peaple around But some times when we joke others don't see it like that. And I know you didn't mean it that way I personaly would like to see you pull local turnys. I was traing hard for mikes turny then my sights where set on you but unforcinaly a week before mikes turny I hurt my backat work
docs got me on meds so I'm going to be missing a few turnys till I'm back to pull I pulled marks turny for two reasons to support the team and to support mark so. Don't go anywhere when I'm healed I'm comin for you

Thanks Guy.
I really like the progress yur club has made your team has a tone of talent and future stars. I think I felt that Buckhorn had an issue with me because they all seem to poke fun of me from time to time I guess I ws being to sensitive. Keep up the good work and we will look forward to a strong provincials in Barrie.
