2009 is an election year for the OAA Executive. At this year’s Provincials there will be elections for President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Referee-in-Chief. Anyone interested in running for one of these positions is encouraged to make this known on the board. Although this isn’t mandatory, it may help to let others know why you would like to be part of the Executive and what you’d bring to the table. The position of Director of Communications will be filled by appointment by the newly-formed Executive.
I will be running for President again. I would like to continue to try to keep growing the sport by, among other things, ensuring there is a solid event schedule and promoting the spread of information.

Sorry Bill didn't mean to be humurous. Can't make provinicials but I still would like to vote. If not by proxy I should still be able to cast a vote somehow.

I'm not opposed to this idea. I've never felt the best way to make important decisions (e.g. location of Provincials) was an open vote at the annual meeting, as it introduces too much potential for regional bias (most people will vote for whatever is closest to them). We just need to come up with an approriate mechanism for this to take place. Votes should only be made by current members, so if we were to accept votes from members who aren't present, they would need to send through their membership renewal fee of $20. I also feel that votes at the meeting should be closed ballot, as I think show of hands votes prevent some people from voting their conscience.
If anyone has an idea of how this could be successful, please share your thoughts.

I think a proxy vote could be a good idea, but it must be regulated. If someone is not an OAA member and hasn't armwrestled in at least some tournaments then I do not think they should be eligible. This could be a slippery slope if not regulated carefully.

Hope I didn't open a can of worms. Just asked a question. I agree Eric with what you are saying and don't feel it would be too difficult if you are a OAA member. Conrad said he wouldn't be able to make it and probably would still like to have his vote counted. If it truly is a bad idea, I will just add it to the pile. I have all kinds of bad ideas I can share over time. One of them is to make The Promise our Communications Director. LMAO. I could hear it now, "This is what we are doing so like it or go * yourself". Too funny!

YOU WILL NOT DISCOURAGE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am "BAD IDEA MAN". LOL. Just making fun of myself John. I am mature enough to realize what sounds good to me is not everyones muffin. Just feeling jovial lately and everyone has been too nicey nicey. I want to do some bitch slappin'''''. I just love it how people HATE change. It kills me. Not every change is good I agree, but whats wrong with giving it a chance. (This whine and bitch session is not aimed at anyone in paticular!!)(So any offense taken to it is because of your own insecurities and the OAA is not responsible for making you feel better about yourself)!!

There has got to be a way to set this up on the Net. If only we had a web sight that was exclusive to only O.A.A. Members. Then you could set it up like on this board when there is a vote and your locked out after casting your vote, so you can't do it again. Actually could that not be set up hear Eric?

He does seem awful fired up and competed like a freakin demon at the Classic though. I guess we will have to wait and see.

It was nice to see him fired up again though wasn't it. Seemed like something has been missing. Hope I don't kick his ass too badly when we pull again, don't want another hiatus. ;D ;D
