I don't think their is any doubt in anyones mind that George is an amazing armwrestler. He is just one of those guys that everyone wants to beat or thinks they can beat! And Chris thanks for your confidence in me but their was only the one time i beat George as far as i remember and i would hope i would remember an event like that! The Hitman

Allen -- Was it at the 1998 Canadians where you beat George? I see from the results that you finished 2nd in the 176 right hand class. Troy finished 3rd and George finished 4th.

I never actually had a match with him at that one, it was in like 2000 i think at a smaller tournament. Does anyone know when this was, I am horrible with remembering dates and stuff like that!

Hey Guys,
I just finished training with George. Rick and myself went at him one after another for a full hour. I'm not saying that Rick or I are stronger than anyone else but George is very strong. I think the only way to beat him is in a hook. You're right John, the best part of the sport is challenging yourself. We talked about a match...what weight would you come in on? George would most likely be 180 lbs. I would love to see my friend and training partner get beat as he could use to be knocked off his pedestal. p.s. after the tournament pulling with George is just that...

I know I'm no where near as strong as you Rob or Rick. Both of you guys would kill me without even feeling me. I'm not trying to say to anyone that I'm better than what I actually am. I'm not only basing my thoughts on practice pulling but also in a match with George that I've already had. I think I can get him, that's all I was ever saying. I'd love the challenge and the excitement that leads up to something like that.
I know Tamblyn would smash me and many others who dont think George is beatable. I never intended to say I was on their level, quite the opposite, I know I'm not.
I'm sitting at 209 right now, I was on the scale tonight at the gym.
I hope George didn't take this as an insult. I have a lot of respect for him and I like him as a person. If people took this wrong how would they take it if I challenged someone below my level? I'm shooting for the moon, gunning after one of the best this country has ever seen.
I like reading your posts and talking with you Rob, you're always respectful (even if you think I'm off my f**k**g rocker)

This isn't the first time we've heard hungry young armwrestlers saying they could beat George. Nobody that has been around for a while would ever bet against George! How do I know that you'll never beat him? I've seen many (much more qualified individuals) try and fail. Brian Tamblyn has been training his butt off for atleast five years and he can't do it. Troy Eaton has done the same before Brian, and he still can't do it! Even (many time world champion) Allen Fisher couldn't do it! He has won (how many consecutive provincial and Arnold`s titles)? What makes you think you can beat George? George is here as he's always been, taking on all challengers! Listening to all this talk, watching them all try (until they quit) is why George is the most entertaining of all the armwrestlers.

Well Rob something inside me tells me I can beat him, I don't expect anyone to give that any merit really (as many have come with the same challenge before me).
A lot of armwrestlers in this sport are very competitive people with a strong will and I expect those people to at least understand what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. I guess you don't. Saying that you know I wont beat him does not deter me in the least. I don't take any of it personally, you're entitled to your opinion.
George hasn't accepted all challenges... yet. My challenge for him will still be there even if he wont to it at Mikes.

Ok I have been watching this unfold since the aforementioned NE board and I must say at no time did I find anything John had to say "Cocky", or "disrespectful". He believes he has the right attack to beat George. Whats wrong with that? If he succeeds he'll be a hero, if he fails he will join the lineup before him. Personally I think I know what he is trying to do and it may work? It may not? Where is the harm. I agree John, if it is done respectfully, what the hells the big deal. My view is go get him John, whispering(then show me how to do what you did), LOL. George is a big boy. He has all our respect! He will not go down without cursing and swearing. HEhehehe

OH MY GOD!!!!!
Go John go!!!
This board is almost more exiting then watching a match happen!!! Love ya George but gotta go with my team mate. I know John's always trainning hard. No matter what it will be the match to watch (according to all the posts lol)
My 2 cents - George is very much respected (I'm still fairely new) but I always heard good things so no one needs to worry that he's not getting the respect he deserves.
To para-phrase John "GO BIG OR GO HOME" It really should be taken as a compliment when someone wants to challenge you. They're placing you as the next step. There is no dought that George is like a wall look at the match in Peterborough how long was that match??? That's strengh but..... I think John can do it.

There's nothing disrespectful about challenging anyone. But I think it may have been interpreted as disrespectful when John bragged that he could pin George three times without feeling it, or whatever that was. That's definitely a huge claim. But in any case, bragging runs rampant in this sport, anyway.

In my own defense Mr. Penney I did say I think I could do it without getting tired.. not without feeling it. It may seem like splitting hairs but to me that is quite a difference.
I know meanings sometimes get mixed up on the boards and maybe I should have used different wording.. but it's been said and I'll deal with it.
It will be good to see you next weekend Jeff. Take care

I stand corrected John- the fact that I didn't know your exact wording means it's not such a big deal to me. But that's still a hell of a statement! Anyway, Armwrestling- and this board- wouldn't exist if it weren't for bragging and trash talk is all I meant. Not that I'm an armwrestler- I'm just a guy that likes to armwrestle. LQ (laugh quietly). See you next week Man.

John,
An email is never the same as talking with someone personally. Anyone can beat anybody on any good day. The cool part about this sport is beating the guy that beats you as it keeps you moving up the ladder. Challenging George is not disrespectful...it's part of the game. You want to get to the table and tear some heads off. When people say someone is being disrespectful I don't get it...after all armwrestling is just a hobby. No body is making any real money at it...well maybe a couple of people but.... and not George doesn't think it's disrespectful...he'd love to pull you. See you in Belleville. Train hard.
