I wont be at that event this weekend. I'm refereeing an event in Ottawa on Saturday. There isn't much to work out. He told me he'd pull I just hope your event fits his schedule. Let me know what he says Mike.

I as well would be interested to hear what the "OTHER STUFF" would be I was fortunate to be sitting by Georges side at the dinner table in Ohio not 2 months ago when this subject came up and he arrogantly boasted in regards to THIS particular match... "I don't care I will pull ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, AT ANY WEIGHT" ...it was in this same conversation he was ALSO so confident to go as far as stating that his desire NOT to lose was soooooo great that if it were up to him he would even be able to win THIS very match after pulling his own weight class at the Mike Gould Classic it is my understanding (coming from George, himself) that there are un-named arm wrestlers out there...who do not believe Mr.Milne has been in the sport long enough to constitute the opportunity to pull such a legendary armwrestler.....hmmmm so maybe the BETTER question to help MANY other athletes of this sport out would be.... To those whom make the standards of arm wrestling; Exactly how many years must one have in the sport of arm wrestling to achieve an opportunity to pull a seasoned puller whom
* has agreed on his OWN accord
* been offered (as far as arm wrestling goes) a suitable amount of cash to WIN or LOSE
* been given an open calendar to choose the date that would best accommodate his scheduleCrazy George is an awesome & respected armwresler...so to hear that an initial acceptance of a match (in February) was re cantered due to the volume of negative calls on the decision....REALLY makes me sad & discourages me to know that... there are sooooo many promoters, teams, and individuals out there actively trying to recruit fresh talent and doing ALL they can to put arm wrestling out there as VERY real & legitimate sport...yet the ones whom make the standards are trying to keep it to an underground back-room/bar-room, EGO show of strength...

I have only been in the sport a short time and have been to every event since Kingston, but have only seen John pull at the classic other then his belt loss to SJL in kingston. But why such a big jump for you John I understand you are good but you have 6 right hand pullers ahead of you in your own class and have that ladder to climb and 16 in the left there is lots of work right there for you. I know I have not seen you compete much so please take this as a question and not a statement.

No problem Steve. I'll try to answer your question the best I can.
The whole George thing sort of came about on the Northeast board when I said that I thought I could beat George. People seem to think that is not possible and I'd like to prove otherwise. Shortly after there was sort of a backlash that I even had the right to challenge George and there were several thousand dollars being thrown around in betting I couldn't win even one match... (not even one match in the next 5 years!!)
George and I spoke about this over the weekend at The Arnold Classic where he said he'd pull me for nothing. He even had the balls to tell me that if I pinned him once he'd give me $2000.00 of his own money. Now He is challenging me. He told me "You can come in at any weight you want, I don't care".
I just wanted to opportunity to do the "impossible". I wanted the opportunity to do what was now challenged of me (by George himself). I don't want George's money or even Tamblyn's money for that matter. To me it's not even fair to take it from them.

I just spoke to George, He is very passionate about the sport , others may have put things in perspective for him , he does not go on the board , but he respecets John and what he is doing for the sport, in regards to the challange made he feels when John atains a provlical or national or MGC title then he has earned a shot at him , until then he wishes John the best, train hard win big , if they meet in a regular tourny. great . For George , Dave team london

If a man chooses to challenge me for a large amount of money, and I am confident I can beat him. I could care less about his credentials. This is a bulls#%t reason not to pull someone and a cop out. I don't care what titles John is lacking, he has the mind and technicall ability to beat a one dimensional puller on any given day. And I beleive George knows this.

For George , Dave team london He respects me but wont pull me even when he said to me he would?? He even sat in front of my girlfriend and bragged that I couldn't touch him and I could come in at any weight and try him. He respects me THAT much does he? Thanks for that kind of respect, keep it next time, I don't need to be "respected" like that any more. I know I'll beat him and he knows it too. The provincial or national titles... gimme a break, that's a cop out. Earn a shot at him?!?!?? He has never beaten me or come close to pinning me. I have beat him at one of these large events he talks about. I would do it again if he'd keep his word and not keep changing his mind. I have the winning record between the two of us, it's NOT the other way around. George is smart though. He has noting to gain and everything to lose. Afterall I'm a nobody and when I beat him he'd lose his god like status. I don't blame him for not taking this challenge but to hide behind the "deserve" excuse is bullshit. Tell George I wont be bothering him with my "undeserving" challenges anymore. I also wont be respecting his "anytime, anywhere, any weight" mantra either.

I would like to see this match. It could be very interesting. I wish he would do it, BUT why would he want to? I told you that you would lose but would you expect any different opinion from guys who don't train with you? WHY do you want to??Why should he? Don't be offended by that John. You have to ask yourself "why" do you want it so bad John? Is it to knock down George a notch? Is it to make you look good? He is not in your weight class so it can't be for improving your rank. Just an ego thing? Emotions are starting to build and that is not necessary. What do you think Gobby?? Don't hold back ;D

Jason, I'm guessing it's because he likes to set his goals high and doesn't like to be told he can't do things, and that they are out of his reach.
Either that, or because George has told him he would before and has often said "anyone, anytime and any weight".
Then again, that's just my guess.
