What sports do you think would have overlapping interest with armwrestling, either from a competitor or spectator standpoint? A few come to my mind, such as strongman and powerlifting. I also think fans of combat sports such as boxing or mixed martial arts could be interested in armwrestling (particularly if it was presented in a supermatch format). What does everyone else think?

I also think there could be more benefits to running sports than just improved cardio conditioning. I remember hearing (I don't know if it's true)that Kevin Kelly (known as one of the fastest pullers) had said he felt the faster he could run, the faster he felt at the table.
I had played competitive ball hockey for the last 7 years, but took this year off. I know it helped my overall conditioning. Dave Drumm of the BAC is also plays in a ball hockey league.
I think throwing sports like baseball are the worst to combine with armwrestling.
Speaking of MMA though, I was glad to see Kimbo get knocked out! He is aweful!

I was thinking more about sports with which armwrestling could be paired. Next year I may have the opportunity to run an armwrestling event in conjunction with a mixed martial arts tournament. I think it could be good exposure to a different group of athletes.

Ahem... shouldn't this be on the off-topic board? Just kidding. Eric, I think maybe powerlifting and strongman. These guys may have an appreciation for the bizarre type of tendon strength that armwrestling involves. I think it's a good idea to draw on the demographic of another sport, like MMA. That would be interesting.

Maybe smash-up derbies? BigTone is a champ in those circles.

I agee with you guys that it is somewhere between a strength (powerlifting, strong man, weight lifting) (i think this is how most europeans see it) and combat sports-mma ect. (i think a more western approach). i think they did something out in nova scotia, a halftime show at an mma event or something??? anyways. seriosly best sport to mix armwrestling with - exotic dancing. that's no joke!!
