Also Rob, are you not being overly dramatic when you say it was "very disrespectful"?
I'd like to be certain about who you think was disrespected so I can speak better on this subject. Pat or Bilal?

Alright, here's the answer. I bet that whoever gave Tyler his "Beast" nickname likely doesn't know it was already taken or ever met Pat (who has always been a very classy guy and 1 of the most decent guys in the sport.) So not a shot or disrespect and maybe if Tyler met him and saw some of Pat's matches on the armsportvideos.com he'd be flattered by the comparison to the ORIGINAL beast Pat Masterangelo. Also if they are up for it, this is a super match waiting to happen! The original vs. the new up & coming. Legend vs. Rookie! BEAST WARS!! Book it Jerry!

I think both guys were disrespected. Bilal was informed that another puller already had the name assasin and was challenged to a supermatch he had no chance of winning. Joking or not, this sounds like intimidating a newbie to me. Pat said he's not okay with Tyler having the name beast and I think that Pat's wishes should be respected. First come, first served, and 25 years is a lot of seniority! I also don't think nicknames should go to the better armwrestler. The difference is Bilal chose another name and Tyler didn't. The same arguement could be used for re-naming old moves like "the douchebag" or "the can opener" if the moves original inventors had a problem with the name change, JMO

By the way Bilal responded back (with a smiley) I don't think he was intimidated at all. He was having fun with it.
Pat doesn't own a name. He was called one. Sure. He probably even deserved it. Great!
Tyler probably doesn't know him, and probably won't respect someone who comes on and demands that he change his nickname, which someone probably gave him.
See the thing is, I don't even thing people would care if you changed the "can opener" to the "Hancocky".
I can almost guarantee nobody would come on and say you have to change the name. You do what you want to do, and he should support new blood into armwrestling and be proud that someone has picked up his old (well, I guess still current?) nickname.

The thing i dont get is Tyler has been arm wrestling for over a year now, and has had his name and nickname posted on here and called out at matches. Why the sudden urge to have him change it now. He is not trying to disrespect Pat by any means, but if he has to change it he will. But that also means buying new team shirts and thats not gonna happen overnight. Rob you trained with Tyler when when he first started into arm wrestling. Why didnt you tell him then The Beast was taken, so dont go sticking up for Pat when your part of the problem yourself.

Tyler is a beast and that's all there is to it so why should he have another nickname. I can't see another name working for him. Also I'm willing to bet that there are more then one beast out there. Maybe not in Ontario but theres got to be. I could see if pat was still pulling but he dosnt. No one is going to forget about him because he was a great puller but the truth is Tyler is the new beast.

Hey Jerry, If I re-named the toproll and claimed to have invented this new move I would not be surprised when people tell me Dave Patton invented the move 30 years ago, lol! Les, I do think I said something the first time I heard someone call Tyler the beast. The problem is that person never heard of Pat. My apologies to both guys since I never said anything directly to Tyler.

Sorry guys...but lets be honest, you cannot copyright nicknames... Demanding for someone to stop using *your* nickname is being quite selfish since there is probably 50 other beasts out there... and who is to say that there cannot be two beasts in Ontario.. claiming rights over nicknames is just silly, like Jerry said, he should be proud his name is being used..
