I'm wondering if there are any more events in Ontario or just the ones listed in the up coming events area? Ashley

Ashley they are ever increasing. If you keep an eye out here and talk to others at tournaments you will find there are more than enough tournaments to keep your arms in extreme pain. LOL. Good luck.

The current schedule can be found here: www.ontarioarmwrestling.com/schedule.htmFull details are not yet available for all events, but they will be gradually released as they are confirmed. Other events will soon be added. Most tournaments typically offer open women's right and left classes, but some offer additional weight classes. At the National Championships in Ottawa in early September, the following women's classes will be offerred (both left and right): 0-110 lbs 111-121 lbs 122-132 lbs 133-143 lbs 144-154 lbs 155-176 lbs 177+ lbs All you need to do to compete at Nationals is to compete at the Provincial Championships in Belleville on July 16th.

You guys make it all sound so exciting. Do I have to follow that link every time I want to find future tournaments, or is there an easier way? Who is putting on the event in port Elgin and are there additional weight classes for women or just open?
A triple elimination event sounds interesting but will I be at a disadvantage being new?
I will be one of the lightest girls there, no experience and it sounds like endurance will play a big roll in this event, that of which I have little to none.
I feel I need a couple of tournaments before Provincials, but I don't know which ones would be best for me to attend.
Thanks
Ashley

There are usually flyers, posters there for other future tournaments as well. I suggest watching the Woodstock women's round robin event videos on amsportvideos.com as well.

February 19th, Arm Melter 10, Belleville, Ontario.
Triple Elimination armwrestling for just $20 per arm. The best way to gain competitive experience!

Tournament details are posted by the tournament promoters. All event details eventually get posted here and on the OAA website (http://www.ontarioarmwrestling.com). The Port Elgin tournament details should soon be posted. I can say that it is very likely that there will be open right and an open left women's classes.
The following events typically feature two weight classes for women:
Northen Ontario Championships in North Bay on May 7th.
Mike Gould Classic in Oshawa the weekend of March 26-27 (pro right only). This tournament also usually features spearate right hand classes for pro and amateur.
The Provincial Championships in Belleville on July 16th.
The majority of the other events feature one right hand and one left hand class for women. The average turnout for women's classes is about 5 competitors. Until this number goes up, additional classes are unlikely to be offered any time soon.
The size of the competitor doesn't always indicate who the best pullers are. Laura Cook is a good example. She started about three years ago at 15 years of age and a body weight of perhaps 120 lbs. She is now able to compete with most Canadian pullers, regardless of size.
Triple elimination is a great format, regardless of experience level.

I have another question, could some one tell me what the weight categories will be for women at the provincials in Belleville? Ashley

Last year they were 0-143 lbs, and 144+ lbs (both arms), and I suspect the same will be offered this year. Joe Gould will confirm.

My suggestion Ashley, not knowing where you are from sorry, but come to the Mike Gould Classic last wkd of March. Ams for you to compete in and pros for you to learn from. The is the best way to see how you do and what you want out of the sport. The pros are always willing to help you out. There will be plenty of girls there am and pro to help you out.
