Some of these events are HAAAARD Some??? I have yet to close the coc #1! I ll be spectating. I can close the #2. Never tried the #3. I also have the HG grippers...I close the 250lbs easy....I'm having major trouble with the 300 lbs though. I would take you for someone with ridiculous grip strength man...

Stefan -- I would be surprised if anyone at this event will be able to lift the Blob50. There are a couple of feats that are super tough. However, if you can lift a 40 lb blob and do rafter pull-ups, I think you would do extremely well, especially in the smalller hand division.

I love how you made different groups determined by hand size! People may not know how much hand length really does come into play.

Mr. Gobby does have ridiculous grip strength, I am sure due to his hand length and training, crushing may not be one of them. But when it comes to open hand strength, there he excels. I have met so many people who can for example lift upwards of 150lb on the rolling thunder, which is really good! and still cannot close a number one gripper. This is simply due to the different hand strengths they have conditioned themselves to or just acquired through everyday life.

Eric, how do you think lifting the Blob50 compares to a 2x45 pinch lift? And are they the wide or narrow 45's?

I personally feel like I'm closer to being able to lift the Blob50 than to pinching 2 45s. However, I don't know what others think of this comparison.
These are narrow 45s.

Is it the 50 lb blob that they use in the grip gauntlet at the Arnold's?

My gripping strength is much better than my "pinching" strength so to speak. I can lift 180 lbs on the rolling thunder.

That's some serious weight man, if you can already lift that much I suggest you start doing rolling thunder chin ups!

I believe a 50lb blob is used at the grip gauntlet Rick. With regards to your other question, a 50lb blob lift is indeed easier than a 2 45's pinch lift. A 50lb blob is wide, but 2 45's simply weigh so much more and it requires a ton of thumb strength.

The Grip Gauntlet uses a 50 lb blob, but I don't know if the specific blob they use is a Blob50. I'm pretty sure the Blob50 is among the toughest blobs, because it is symmetrical. Some blobs have one side that is smoother than the other, making it easier to lift them.

I've tried, and missed, the blob at the Grip Gauntlet. I believe it's symmetrical, from what I remember.
Does anybody know if Luke Reimer still competes? I'd be interested to see how he'd do at the Hand Strength Challenge.
