How do you guys do it?
I feel like most guys have already decided if they're going to win or lose days / hours before they get on the table...
What keeps you pumped up? motivated? hyped up?

What keeps you pumped up? motivated? hyped up? ... he asks the day BEFORE the tournament ;D Once again Bilal it will be individual. You will even find as you get more experienced that your prep will evolve and change. My honest suggestion to you is simple. Show up, enjoy it, meet everyone you can, laugh, have fun and pull on the practice table afterward. Don't put too much pressure on yourself right now. This is an incredible sport with great people in it. Just go to have a fun day and learn as much as you can. I'll try to come back to this thread next week and share some of the things that I do, but for now you're likely on overload anyway. Just enjoy those butterflies in your stomach... they don't last forever.

Hey Bilal after being around in and out for 34yrs if you don't have butterflies are ready to be sick or diarea before your first match in almost any tourny, your either un prepared or too confident , Even Crazy George still feels this way at some small tournys to this day , sometimes nerves give you the winning edge . I don't think anyone can tell (you) how to mentally prepare for a tourny. You will find what helps you individually on your own. I am interested in the response to this thread myself because it is something I feel I struggle with myself. Hopefully we can get some insight on this from other members. I use visualization and just try to stick to what I am comfortable with. Also Joe and I pull a lot and he puts me into every type of situation both offensive and defensive so when I get in a match nothing is really a surprise because I've been there before. What I need help with for mental prep is how to loose the nice guy attitude and find the inner bad ass. I would love to find a way to just get mean...ha

I find My confidence and mindset is highest when i feel that I have prepared physicaly "table time mostly" to the best of my capability for that event.
If in my heart I know I didn't put in the work then I start questioning myself remember this qoute from Larry Bird.
"Many Men have the will to win, very few have the will to prepare to win"
