In the past there have been a lot of discussions as to the ideal weight classes to offer at an event. I prefer the following combinations:
3 classes: 0-165 lbs, 166-198 lbs, 199+ lbs
4 classes: 0-154 lbs, 155-187 lbs, 188-220 lbs, 221+ lbs
5 classes: 0-143 lbs, 144-165 lbs, 166-187 lbs, 188-220 lbs, 221+ lbs
Does anyone prefer any other combinations?

I was asked recently if I would consider changing the weight classes at the Arm Melter.
I am considering changing the weight classes for next year, but, I don't think I'll be adding a weight class. I like 20+ in a class - sometimes - and I hope that # grows. That being said, we'll see. Where do you draw the line? Maybe 0-176 becomes 0-165? Not sure yet.

Then 166 to? I like 0-176. Looking at the entries you had it looks not to bad at 0-176. 177 to 220 is the biggest even without lighter guys pulling up. I don't think adding a class would slow things down too much. I like seeing more guys pull each other when they have more in the tank. Kind of like watching the 5th round of an mma title fight, they are still throwing at each other but......

I think for most tournaments fewer classes are better, maybe 170 , 210 , open but whatever.... this is a bit of a different idea - have your # of classes, without weight #'s attatched to them. everybody comes weighs in at their weight, weigh in's are done, then the classes get split up evenly. a light middle and heavy class. might be different.

I like this idea. Might be difficult to set up at first, but it looks like it would be hella fun. also .. I think 199+ is too much. Either 4 or 5 classes are the best. We have some very large heavyweights and to be 205 pulling guys over 300 would be a bit much IMO
