New on board......just want to say hi!

Just want to say hi and introduce myself.
My name is Doug, 38 years old and I have lived up in the Sundridge/South River On. area all my life. I've pulled since grade 8 through high school ( Almaguin Highlands) for fun and some local competitions. I did pretty good (18 - 23 years old) in the 190 lbs and over class until Greg Boyes came to the scene LOL!! That's when my eyes were open to a totally new breed of competition. In that time I was introduced to local pullers such as Neville Beachey, Rusty Healey, Willie Conrad, Ed McKenny, etc. I'll never forget my first pull with Neville when I was 20.....young and cocky as I was then, I lost it all when Rusty said "GO" . I trained with Rusty and Neville for a short time but other interests took over.

Anyway, in the last year or so, watching youtube vids and then finding this forum, the interest has come back and looking to get something going here in the area for fun. Thanks for the forum!
Special thanks to Allen Ford....I believe we pulled years ago ( maybe in high school??).....watching your videos gave me the kick in the @$&*^#% I needed!!!

Good to see you're getting back into the sport. Unfortunately there aren't many competitions in your neck of the woods, but if you're willing to travel a bit, you'll see there are a lot of events to choose from. The tournament in Toronto in 9 days will feature amateur classes. If you attend, you'll be able to meet lots of Ontario's current pullers.

Thanks for the heads up about Toronto, unfortunately, weekends are going to be busy with work for another month and a half. My main focus for now is conditioning. I notice when a pull these days that after about 4-5 hard pulls, I'm starting to feel it so I need to work on that. I'm going to contact Neville and Greg Boyes to see if their up for some fun. Greg will no doubt be willing as he always gets a grin when we're struggling with him LOL!
