Here is important parking information for anyone that is driving to Nationals:
Unfortunately, parking at the host hotel is not free. The cost is $18.95 per night. However, this is certainly the most worry-free option. For those travelling in groups, I would strongly suggest this option.
Otherwise:
For those arriving on Friday during the day -- unfortunately you will have to pay for Friday daytime parking somewhere, most likely in one of the nearby parking lots. (There are several). Note that parking on many of the downtown streets is prohibited during rush hour, so please pay attention to signs.
For those arriving Friday after 7 PM, you should be fine parking on any surrounding streets for free overnight.
Many parking lots in the downtown core offer free parking on weekends and on holidays (including Labour Day). However, I've recently discovered that this DOES NOT include overnight parking. Anyone coming for just the Saturday or just the Sunday will have no issues parking for free all day on any of the surrounding streets of in many of the parking lots. However for those staying at the hotel overnight, street parking would be the best option. The hotel assures me that many guests choose this option rather than paying the $18.95 fee and have no problems.
For free daytime weekend parking, a lot that is sure to have plenty of room is at the World Exchange Plaza (111 Albert Street, just a few blocks from the host hotel). This lot of 5 levels of underground parking.
Also, for anyone planning on arriving on Sunday morning to register before 9 AM -- don't cut things too close! It would really be unfortunate to miss the registration deadline due to traffic or parking issues. Give yourself plenty of time and avoid the stress.
