Is it needed? Probably not but it would make it much easier I think. I certainly do not think it could hurt to be standardized. It's worth a vote imo. Entry fees are set, OAA membership fees are set, protest fees are set... etc, etc.
As vocal as I am I do not enjoy asking for more money. It's just a thing with me, I feel uncomfortable doing so.
Also, with each referee attempting to establish their own compensation it leaves a window for problems to arise I think.

I thought ref fees were set? Didn't it just go from $100 up to $150 a couple years ago?

They are not set. They are only set for the Nationals.

I second Johns Nomination. Set a minimum fee. More is allowed but a minimum would be nice in stone.

I have talked to Eric and John about this over the last 6 months or so. There is no set fee for reffs, but I think that it is time to set one. I have been reffing here in Ontario for the past 8 years. I started out getting paid 100$ at most tournys. Today I get paid about the same at most. There are a few promotors that pay more. I am not in this sport to make money. I just dont think it should cost the reffs money to attend tornys.
What I wouldn't want to see happen, though, is if there are five women who show up, and only one weighs over 154. Then conceivably the lighter pullers could pull in a lower weight class and the heavier puller wouldn't have anyone to compete against. Would we require all pullers to pull in the open class, if they want to also pull in a lighter class?
I put more thought into this one Eric.: here is the way I see it. IE: 0-132 has 3 girls in it. 133-154 has 3 girls in it and OPEN has 1 girl. If the promoter can't get at least 2 of the lower girls to move up then the 133-154 gets combined with the OPEN class. It won't take long for the girls to see that either they pull up and support the promoter or they pull up because thier class has been combined with the OPEN class.

Sounds like this could work. Let's see what people think tomorrow.
