Who will be the OAA Team of the Year in 2012-13? The Buckhorn Arms have lost one of their superstars (Dan Kadlec). Will they be able to keep the team title without him? Will Team Almighty take back the title they had won four years in a row? I expect with the first circuit sanctioned event being held in Grand Bend, Team Almighty will shoot to the top spot. But it will be interesting to see the standings after the Scarborough and Kingston events.
The OAA site is a bit out of date, and there are some roster adjustments that need to be made. If anyone is interested in competing in the points races (Puller of the Year, Team of the Year, etc.), but is not a current OAA member (i.e. you did not renew your membership at the 2012 Provincials in Barrie), you can purchase a membership in Grand Bend at a cost of $30.
Good luck to everyone who is competing this weekend!

I know you've probably explained this a million times but, how are the points being tallied??? Top 5 from each team??? For the whole year??? or per tournament???

Points are accummulated at the five circuit sacntioned events of the 2012/13 OAA season as well as Provincials. This season, these events are: Western Ontario Championships - Grand Bend - September 29th Golden Horseshoe Championships - Scarborough - October 20th Eastern Ontario Championships - Kingston - November 17th Central Ontario Championships - Muskoka (exact location TBD) - February 2nd Southern Ontario Championships - Woodstock - April 13th Ontario Provincial Championships - Gravenhurst (or Bracebridge) - May 4th This is how the team points are calculated: - One point is automatically earned by each team member who competes in an event.
- Additional points are earned for the best five placings at each event (1st place = 5 points; 2nd place = 4 points; 3rd place = 3 points; 4th place = 2 points; 5th place = 1 point). Because competitors can earn points for one right arm class as well as one left arm class, these additional points could theoretically come from just three team members even if additional members are competing in a given event.
- The Tournament Director, Referees, Scorekeeper, and Emcee earn 1 point each.
- Teams can be composed of an unlimited number of members.
At the end of the season, the team that has earned the most points across these six events is recognized as the Team of the Year. If anyone has any additional questions, please let me know.
