On top of that if you decide to go to World's the O.A.A. reimburses you an additional $80 US in entry fees. Seems that extra $50/year stretches a long way. We support the O.A.A. the O.A.A. supports us. I don't know of any other organization that contributes to armwrestling they way Ontario does.

I love what they Ontario Org does with the money. I like how if you support the organization by competing, you get supported by everything they put out like free entries at Nationals, and prize money to clubs and individuals.
Dont get me wrong, the cost tom compete is high and I definatley see where Joel is coming from here. I love to pull multiple classes at every tourney and this definatley doesnt allow or accomodate for that. It would have cost me $120 to pull 2 classes each arm at the Loaded Dog, its less to pull at Nationals.
And also Hugh when he mentioned a lower cost to people outside of that organization, ie. Quebec, Nova Scotia pullers. I pulled 4 or 5 tourneys in Ontario this year and there is no way id see a benifit to this money as an outsider.

Its easy to say that when you only compete in 5 or 6 tourneys a year. Do it after 10 to 15. Everyone who says its fine so far for the exeption of a few people dont pull more then 5 or 6 times a year. Im not saying you dont supot or promote and dont do your part to make the oaa better but when you got guys who are trying to make it to every event to keep the numbers up its hard. And bill when you were working construction we barly saw you out. Yes you made it to a few but what did you do more then anything. Complain about how its to much to compete. you got to think, not everyone makes as much as you. I didn't want to say this Joel, but I've been unemployed for the last few months and I still come out and support the tournaments. I come out when I can, pay the gas, pay for the food, the arm wrestling, just like everyone. I've been home all week, eating tuna and spam and cheap shit because of the money I spent on gas and arm wrestling at the Nitro. I'm not looking for a pitty party nor am I trying to write a sob story, I'm just saying, if it's really that important to you, you'll find a way... I'm competed in wrestling, martial arts, bodybuilding, powerlifting, etc...arm wrestling is by far the cheapest sport to compete in....you dont need special gear, no special clothes, no gloves, no special food, no supplements, no gym membership, etc....it's actually VERY cheap compared to other sports.....I'd much rather my kids get into arm wrestling that hockey or golf or martial arts.... Joel, if you're coming out to 15 tournaments a year, it's an extra $150 a year. Still don't think it's such a big deal. That's 12 hours of labor under minimal wage.
