The location of next year's Provincial Championships will be voted on by OAA members at this year's Provincials in Gravenhurst on May 4th. I encourage anyone who's interested in putting on this event to get in touch with me or to post on this thread. Prior tournament organizing experience is a requirement. The target date for the 2014 Provincials is April 12th.
There is a $300 OAA sanctioning fee for hosting a Provincial Championships.

You're looking for a volunteer to run your tournament for free. Not just anyone, the person must have experience organizing tournaments. Actually worse than free, you're going to charge them $300 to run your tournament. Good luck finding anyone to take this job, JMO!

I just want to point out that April 12 is pretty close to the MGC and I disagree with Rob. You can make money running our provincials with the numbers we have.

Setting the date for Provincials is not easy for 2014. I've tried to consider everything before landing on this proposed date. As of 2014, the Nationals will be held over Victoria Day Weekend. This would position an April 12 Provincials five weeks prior to Nationals. I understand the importance of keeping the Provincials away from the MGC as much as possible as well, which is why I'm hoping Mike will consider moving the date of his event one week up, to the second last weekend in March (at least for 2014). This would give a three week gap between the MGC and Provincials. By not placing the Provincials between the MGC and Nationals, they would be need to be held during the winter, which I think is dangerous as bad weather can have a significant impact on attendance. If anyone has any other ideas for a better date for Provincials, please let me know.
Rob, you make it seem like there's no possible financial upside to running a Provincials. Based on Provincials attendance over the past several years, it is relatively easy to come out ahead when running a Provincials.
I'm not worried about finding a host for the 2014 Provincials. No less than three promoters have expressed to me in the past that they would host a Provincials if no one else wanted to host them.

instead of re aligning all of our tournaments ,which untill last year worked ,just fine, leave them as they are , and use our previous years qualifiers for the following year , problem would be solved , it would not be hard to do , you already have atendence problems , and it's just going to be worse if you stay on this course , You have arnolds and mgc which are a main training focous, 2 weeks after mikes is too soon , and other dates are altered then, it's going to be a loose loose promotion and atendence

What do you mean by using the previous year's qualifiers? The 2014 Provincial Championship is the qualifier for the 2014 National Championship. Are you saying that the 2013 Provincials should be the qualifier for the 2014 Nationals?
