Yet another awesome edition of the Mike Gould Classic is in the books!
A huge thank you to Mike Gould for putting on North America's best annual event, year after year for over 15 years. There's considerable financial risk involved in putting on this type of tournament, and we're all very lucky that Mike is willing to take this risk. Luckily, armwrestlers continue to come out in big numbers every year. This year there were pullers from Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Alberta, New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Switzerland, and France (and maybe more)! 265 total entries! While I'm not 100% sure, based on my knowledge of Canadian events, I think this was the biggest event ever held in Canada, outside of a National Championship.
Thank you to those who put in long days to for the benefit of the competitors and spectators: Joe Gould, John Milne, Dave Campbell, Dave Knox, Jerry Milne, and Scott MacInnis. Your hard work was very appreciated! (I apologize if I'm forgetting anyone.)
I wasn't at the venue on Saturday, but I enjoyed watching the live streaming when I had some time to tune in. It was a lot of fun to see all the new talent coming into the sport.
I was happy to see so many High Hookers make it to this event. I think this was our strongest turnout yet, with 18 team members competing this weekend:
Alain
Allen
Charles-Antoine
Devon
Eric
Evan
Ian
Jamieson
Jeff
Jodi
John
Nicola
Nolan
Patrick H
Patrick V
Phil
Robert
Zac
The Sunday competition was crazy. There were so many "wow" moments, but for me the stand-out puller of the day was Allen Ford. What an amazing performance!
I'm already looking forward to next year!
