Maybe each Armwrestling team should make a list of people on their team who could win these awards so everyone can see.
Off topic ,,Again I was matched up with my team mate in the first round at Marks event(Bradford Cook)..Mark didnt know we trained together but when you fill out your forms put down your TEAM ..I did talk to Eric about this at Mike's event,,Not sure its written in stone but this has to be done.

Rookie- Ashley Most improved- Conrad Promoter- mike Gould Murray park - rob graham
Ashley earned this. Plowed through some big obstacles to get there that would have stopped almost everybody. Enough said. Conrad's right is a beast now too and it is nice to be able to award this to a person that has been in the game along time and made huge gains in a year Mike Gould turned up the heat a little more this year and has the most recognized tournament in Canada!!!!! Joe is a close second Rob Graham is the Man. He is so awesome He even makes Craig Mitchell seem like an ass lol

Question,,Do you have to be an OAA member of the past year to qualify for theses awards? (I think you do) That will take a few names off the list..

Lots of great nominations! The only thing I disagree with is that there are "hands down" clear winners. I think all awards have at least a few potential winners.
As for the awards, you have to be a current member to earn points for the Puller of the Year, Team of the Year, and Ontario's Strongest Region, and to qualify for the Ironman award. However being a current member is not required to be a recipient of the four awards currently being discussed.

So only about 8 different people with nominations. Either it has low interest, people don't read this board or people are shy I guess.
Some of those people only offered one name. Hopefully we can get more people nominating, it would be nice to see that number greater than the number of people who might complain because their person didn't win.
Not final list from me yet but here goes so far:
Promoter candidates Mike Gould (for me first choice) Joe Gould Joey Costello
Rookie candidates (in no real order) Tom Smith Alain Piette Christian Gould Janek (if he qualifies for rookie) Shawn Jenson
Most improved (no order) Jay Riehle Janek Tyler Robinson Robert St. Jean Alain Piette Christien Gould Tom Smith Ashley Mahar Jeff Slater
Murray Park (in order) Rob Graham
I know I have posted many in the most improved category. They are all deserving of recognition but only one can win. There are some who I have listed in Rookie as well as Most Improved and I'd like to say that with so many nominations and it being so close I hope that one puller does not win both awards.
I'm probably forgetting someone but maybe someone will remind me with their picks.

I don't think anyone should be nominated for both Rookie of the Year and Most Improved. For Rookie of the Year, I usually consider pullers with less than three years in the sport. For Most improved, I consider pullers who have been in the sport for a longer period of time. If you make great gains in your first three years in the sport, then that shows me you're a great new puller.
Of those who have been mentioned so far, I think the following should be considered for Rookie of the Year:
Ashley Maher (first event = 01/11) Tom Smith (first event = 04/10) Alain Piette (first event = 11/10) Christien Gould (first event (men's division) = 03/12) Robert St-Jean (first event = 11/10) Tom Balfe (first event = 06/11) Bilal Kreidieh (first event = 01/11)
and I think the following pullers should be considered for Most Improved:
Janek Kwias (first event = 03/09) Shawn Jensen (first event = 08/09) + any pullers who have pulling since 2009 or earlier

ok, final list from me
Promoter Mike Gould
Based on his now regular tournaments at the Loaded Dog and the strength of the "Wilson vs. Gould" supermatch, PLUS this year's MGC I'm going with Mike Gould for this award.
Joe G is still doing awesome with The Arm Melter Pro League and was narrowly edged out.
Joey C has built what looks to be big numbers in his school/team and if I may say so very professional looking team shirts. He was also a very strong candidate here and I suspect if he continues this momentum he will be hard to knock off this award in the future.
Rookie Alain Piette
Alain Piette - dual first place finishes at the MGC this year. I didn't see Tom Smith's name on the left side of MGC. I'm not sure if he competes left or not but winning both left and right at MGC is very notable.
It's very difficult not to put Christian ahead of Alain due to his very young age but at some point performances matter. To me this is almost a 50/50 split.
Most Improved Tyler Robinson/Jeff Slater
Tyler finished top 4 PRO class at the MGC this year (both arms). Slater took first left and fifth right. Janek also competed in this same class. ALL three are worthy imo. Slater is very consistent, technical and smart. His strength is coming up with his weight too, no more 198's for him. He is a National Champion but he's still getting better and better, very noticeable by his results with Roussin.
I'm not sure if Tyler is eligible because he might not have been in long enough. If that's the case it goes to Jeff Slater imo. This will depend on the year Robinson started.
Murray Park Rob Graham
Dood is awesome, always friendly, always shows great sportsmanship and will kick everyone's ass on any given day. Everyone loves his as far as I know. I remember him taking the time to talk to me when I broke in. Not many people would have done that back then to be honest. I was in the mix with just about everyone at that time. I think he got a kick out of me then. I dunno, maybe he just wanted to see if I really was an asszhole or not. Either way, he's all aces in my book.

I would Like to nominate Evan Bergouin for rookie of the year. Though he has only 7 months experience he is dinamite!! he has placed top three at The Mike Gould classic and marks event he pulls 6 times a week no joke and is a roofer/carpenter by trade! I can't understand how he can maintain his training routine and still be effective at events! its possible that he hasn't enoungh time in to be considered a rookie but if you went to his house and see that he already has three tables steps straps and armsportvideoes on all the time youd think hes been pulling for years!!
