LOL Has anyone read this article?
Apparently the reporter was the only non-Caucasian person in the room...where do they get this information?

Hmmmm...she probably looked around the room. :-) I didn't see Dixon Glory or Zaf there; what non-Caucasian competitors were there on Sunday? As far as spectators go - check the photos and videos. I don't recall seeing any either. :-)

Annnyyyways, there are a lot of non-white arm wrestlers out there...just saying. Even if at that specific date there wasn't a single non-white person in the room, the article makes it sound like it's a white people only sport...not very inviting or professional at all. Just my opinion for what it counts.

I hope she doesn't publish any more articles about armwrestling. She's unprofessional, writes as if her opinions are facts, irresponsible, presumptuous and cares not what light she sheds on the sport.
Funny how "It is almost impossibly apparent" to miss supposed steroids in a little pill bottle being passed around the room but can miss full grown men like Bilal, Harpreet, Joung Chan Keun and John Bosom. Apologies to any non-Caucasian who might have been in the competition as well.
Her writing lacks any credibility whatsoever. Her skills of observation are clouded because she wants to make the article more dramatic. What a joke. Hell, I've seen more legitimate, less bias and more entertaining posts on here between Gobby and Windover. To my knowledge they are not professional writers either... although maybe they should be. Seems to me there is a lack of talent in that field and both men are getting old enough to retire anyway.

I agree with John and Bilal (but more with John cuz he's white.
Any exposure can be considered good exposure.. Though local policeman see it differently when I wisk open my belt less trench coat on the streets of Montreal on a warm Saturday night.
Either she lacks professionalism or she just figured she could take liberties on such a non mainstream sport. Either way... Weak. The "passing around the white bottle" comment was ignorant.

I am only white in the winter! In the summer I am darker than Bill. And Chris please keep the trench coat closed, there is a cold draft in the air.

What is this a psyche ward for arm wrestlers?

Hugh - thank you for sharing we know your intentions are to promote the sport and you are a great supporter of the sport.
My comments are towards the embarrassing attempt at writing an article. I can do better in my sleep. I do have a minor in English literature and I can point out a barrage of misconstrued assumptions and made-up "facts" in her dream-like state narration of what happened that day. The whole Desperate Housewives style drama is so 1996.

My impression was this woman never competed in any sports growing up. Her comment about being back in gym class shows where she is coming from. If you've never done a sport then it's going to be very difficult to relate to one. So she notices superficial things and sees what she wants to see. Saying that John Brzenk is world champ (and he's not anymore) just because he gets to travel, kinda says it all.

If I knew nothing about gardening, I would not venture to write a book about which pesticides are harmful when growing tomatoes. I think it's as clear as a crystal chandelier the analogy I'm making here.

Promote the sport?
Fvck. Promote it to who? Drug dealers? The author writes without thought (or any real thought). I'm sure she thinks she's writing a masterpiece but it's as if she's a teenager with no talent and adding drama, lies and presumptions so there is some sort of substance to it.
She sets the scene as if she's little red riding hood in a room full of wolves (only Caucasion wolves that is) ... OH MY. I can see her thinking...
"The readers are sure to love this. It's like... brilliant" (giggle giggle) "Oh!!! I'll use 'freakshow muscle' , that's a great hook" (teee heeee) "This is going to be like WOW... like my best one yet"
Read that in your best 13 year old girl voice for the intended effect.
Keep your reporter Hugh. She makes you guys look amazingly strong and the rest of the world look both WHITE and full of drugs. She's a fvcking joke.
