Actually Guy, the members fund everything anyway. The OAA does not generate revenue outside from what it's members give it (as far as I know). I would rather have a surplus in the OAA personally than charge it for this as this really is a pay per use item (in my opinion).
Having the Provincials recorded benefits the members more than the OAA itself. I don't think you'll find too many people in the entire OAA who do not enjoy watching video of themselves. For me it just seems too simple.
There must be a list of members somewhere. If we could find a membership number we could figure out the cost it would be to each and go from there.

Where does the money come from to have ArmSport record Nationals?
It's mandatory as far as I know. The money has to come from somewhere though.

Current OAA members include those who compete at Provincials or Nationals (where being a member is required), plus anyone else who purchases a membership throughout the year -- usually in order to be able to earn points in the Puller of the Year/Team of the Year races. So there are many Ontario pullers who aren't current members. Over the past six years, the number of active members has ranged from 80 to 100. So a $5 increase to the OAA annual membership would cover Scott's filming expenses.

Guy, making the cake taste good for all is impossible. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" (I think Mr. Spock said that) You're a wise old bastard who knows that already.

Eric, does the money that the Nationals Tourney Director uses to pay Scott come from entry fees alone? Or does it come from money from the Provincial Assoc.'s?

Nationals Tournament Directors receive funds from entry fees and whatever sponsorships they are able to secure. The OAA provides some sponsorship for Nationals held in Ontario. The 2011 Ottawa Nationals benefitted from some sponsorship, as will this year's Timmins Nationals. But if the Nationals Tournament Director comes up short, he/she is the one who must cover the difference.

Yikes.
That's pretty risky. This is off topic but do we have locations (or bidders) for the Nationals in years ahead?

As far as I know, no bids have been put forth for the 2014 Nationals. I have a feeling fewer and fewer people will be interested in hosting Nationals until significant changes are made to the requirements (i.e. considerable financial investment/risks, all falling on the tournament director). I know there has been discussion among the CAWF Executive to try to address this, but I haven't heard of any specific details yet.

Say an armwrestler wanted to attend the WAF event and we had no Canadian National Championship for him to qualify through. Would the Canadian athlete be able to attend the WAF event?
I know this is a bit off the Provincial scale but it's related.

I'm all for paying the extra dollars to have the Provincials filmed, but I think we can get rid of the puller incentives. We can eliminate trophies by paying back the top three pullers their entry fees and spend the incentive money at each sanctioned tournament to reward the pullers at each event, instead of once a year.

I know this is a bit off the Provincial scale but it's related. This is a discussion that will need to be had very soon at the CAWF level, if it hasn't happened already. I'm also very curious about what would happen.
