Hello armwrestlers It seems like the OAA Provincials were only a couple of weeks ago when in truth it has already been 3 months and so much has happened in the World of Armwrestling. First, the provincials were a great success with 100 new or renewed members and a new Executive Committee was formed. Then in July Timmins hosted a fantastic Canadian Championship with the highest attendance in the past 6 years. It was a great event and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you Joanne and Lori for putting on an event Ontario can be proud of. It was certainly a great event for Ontario, we not only won the Team Trophy hands down, we also had 5 Ontario Pullers inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame – They are, Kevin Kelly, Mark, Zalepa, Paul Cecchini, Paul Levesque and Rick Baarbe. Congratulations to all of them. The Executive have met several times and we have mapped out the 2013/2014 armwrestling season; full details will be sent to all of you in an email. Your input is important so please let us know what you think all comments and suggestions will be addressed and answered. We are now in full organization mode for the Worlds in Gdynia, Poland and we are proud to say that Ontario has 11 pullers travelling to the Championship from August 31 to September 8, 2013 they are: Ted Larocque, Dan Bellefeuille, Shea Dickie, Jeff Penney, Jordan Croft, Marty Dimma, Janek Kwias, Heidi Cordner, Tyler Robinson, Ashley Maher and Joey Costello. We wish them all Good Luck as they embark in an experience of a lifetime.
Stay tuned more information to follow shortly
Yours in armwrestling Lise Blanchard Secretary-Treasurer

While I'm sure the Timmins Nationals was a great event, and I wish I could have attended, unless the results posted on the CAWF site are incomplete, three other Nationals had higher attendance levels over the past six years: Moose Jaw in 2008, Winnipeg in 2010, and Ottawa in 2011. I don't think a false picture should be painted. The reality is that change is needed in order to get people interested in hosting and attending this event.

So, what is the reality regarding attendance?

From what I added up (could be off) 63 youths 64 maters(etc) and 139 in the open.. 266 total at this years Nats. anything under 300 is not a good turnout in my eyes and that's nothing against the promoter. Even though its good to have the youths, they seem to bump up the total.
