Area Leads

We are rapidly moving thru a very hard year for the O.A.A.
A lot of information to share and decisions to make.
We have the list of Area leads completed and posted on the board, if your name is not on the list and you are an O.A.A. member let me know and we will get you on a list.

All of these leaders have been chosen because they are well known in their area and are willing to do the job.
Their job is simple, relay information to and from the members in their area..
They also carry the vote for your area on all topics requiring a vote.

Some of the groups are much bigger than the rest and may still be divided up.

How about a little discussion first? I don't know half of the names on this list. You seem to put this list together so quickly that you can't be bothered to spell peoples names correctly! This list is full of people who don't armwrestle and some that only pull once a year or less. I think the decisions should be made by the people that are active in Ontario. Are the names at the top of each list the leaders? Am I the only one that has a problem with this?

Sorry for the spelling mistakes Rob, I pretty much cut and pasted the names off of their registration forms. If I have spelled your names wrong please let me know.
I haven't seen you at the past few events, maybe that is why you don't know half the people on the list.
These people that you are referring to are O.A.A. members. They may not all have competed at provincials but they still get a vote.
The names at the top of the lists are the leaders.
So what part of it do you have a problem with?

Signing up a bunch of non pullers etc. to get voted in as OAA president is sketchy, but acceptable given your experience in armwrestling. This would not have been tolerated if a non armwrestler was voted in as president of the OAA. Being paid members gives them the right to vote, not make decisions for the rest of us! These leads should be people that consistanly run, ref, scorekeep or pull OAA tournaments. I don't really care what a "once in a blue moon" puller thinks is good for the OAA, and I care even less about what their non armwrestling spouse thinks. Exactly how were these leads chosen, and by who? Important voting positions like these leads should be elected by the members, just like the executive. I think this list is missing a few names of people that pulled provincials? I also think that some very experienced candidates aren't on the list since they weren't at provincials? Why wasn't the message board used to look for volunteers, vote or get the members input? I strongly disagree with some of these chosen leads.

I threw my back out a week before the westerns and was unable to pull, my apologies to George and the Wilson family.

Joey, this is a good idea, but seems forced on the OAA members. Rob has a great point. Tom Smith is my appointed group leader. I have no problem with Tom, but I barely know him. How would I get in contact with him? Would my opinion be accurately relayed to the OAA executive? Personally, I think the group leader should be voted in by all the current OAA members annually, the group sizes should be the same if only one vote per group counts and it is an issue that should only be implemented with full OAA support, not just the executive.

You make some good points Brad and I've tried to work thru these points already.
You can look at it as being forced on you but what I'm trying to do is give you something that you never had in the past.
It's not a perfect system but it is a work in progress.

You will contact Tom by way of e-mail if you don't know him well enough to talk to him on the phone.
All the groups cannot be the same size because of the numbers in your area.
Your opinion can be put on the message board and we all can talk about it.
We don't have the luxury of waiting for an OAA meeting to vote on the leaders.

Was I approached about this? If so did I agree to it? I don't recall even speaking about this to anyone (however in my age my memory could be going).

I'm not opposed to it, I'd just like to know more about it.
