Two different sets of men’s weight classes are being considered for the 2014 Ontario Provincial Championships on November 8th. Which classes would you prefer?
Option 1: The traditional OAA weight classes: 154/176/198/242/243+
Option 2: The new Nationals weight classes: 138/154/171/189/209/231/232+
The poll will be open for a week, and is also being conducted on the OAA Facebook page. I’d like to limit the voting to Ontario pullers who are likely to attend the event. Double votes (i.e. votes on Facebook and the OAA message board) will only be counted once.
Note that if the Nationals weight classes are preferred, the 138 class may be dropped. This will depend on how many pullers can reasonably be expected to compete in that class. (No Ontario pullers competed in the 138 class at this year’s Nationals.)

For the Ontario's I would just go with 5 weight classes.. I have always liked 154/176/198/220/221+..But 5 weight classes should be enough.. Ill let the people in charge decide. Ill be reffing

I love the extra classes, but I understand that this adds a great additional cost to the event. Is this feasible Eric? Will this cause a need for entry fees to go up or cause financial problems for the next person who wants to run the provincials?

It would only be two to four extra classes, and in my opinion the new Nationals classes may actually attract a greater number of competitors. I don't foresee a problem, however we can always modify the requirements going forward if one is discovered.
I really expect a good turnout with Mike holding the event in Toronto.

Ladies and masters will soon be dealt with in a separate thread. I can confirm that the youth classes will be the following:
12 and under:
Mixed - 0-60 lbs Mixed - 61-85 lbs Mixed - 86-110 lbs Mixed - 111+ lbs
13+:
Boys - 0-130 lbs Boys - 131-160lbs Boys - 161+ lbs Girls – 0-130 lbs Girls - 131+ lbs
Max age would be 18, to match what is done at Nationals. Right and left will be offered for all classes.
