With the Provincials just 4 weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about who would be worthy recipients for this year’s OAA awards. Specifically who do you think should be nominated for the following?
• Rookie of the Year • Most Improved Puller of the Year • Promoter of the Year • Murray Park Memorial Award (Sportsmanship)
The OAA Executive will be selecting the winners ahead of the Provincials, so please express your opinions on this board if you feel strongly about someone winning a particular award.
As a reminder, these were last year’s winners:
Laura Cook – Rookie of the Year Jeff Penney – Most Improved Puller of the Year Joe Gould – Promoter of the Year Rick Heidebrecht - Murray Park Memorial Award
The awards will be given out during the OAA General Meeting just before the start of the tournament.

I don't know about who the other three awards should go to but I do know that Brad Wade should get the rookie award. Not only is he a great armwrestler but he has prooven himself throughout the past year. Go ahead and look at the past year and find out for yourself what accomplishments he has made. He met the top competition in his weight class and persevered. So I would be truly dissapointed if Brad Wade does not get the rookie of the year award.

My Opinion:
Rookie of the year: Agreed, this is the easiest one by far. Brad Wade, way infront of everyone here... this guy is ridiculous. If he wasn't around i would have picked Andrew Scottfrom Buckhorn.
Promotre of the year: This one is a lot tougher in my mind, I would just say 1) Jerry and John are consistently bringing the level of armwrestling up by their filming with inthehook and hosting of events. 2) Mike Gould has, and continues to put on the biggest tournament annually, this year making ontario have an Arnold's qualifier. 3) Joe Gould probably pumps out more quality tournaments than anybody in ontario?
Murray Park- another tough one - Mike Gould is a Great armwrestling Spirit in Ontario. Competitor, Promoter, Veteran, Continues to push armwrestling in the right directions. George Izakouits has continued to kick ass here and wherever else he goes, probably an inspiration to every armwrestler. Guy Windover has fostered a great new team and has them all going with the right intentions. Grippler. no need to say anymore. hungriest man in armwrestling. anywhere.
Most improved - This one is the hardest one of all... If you could give it to a Team i would say Timmins. every single guy from there is doing amazing. whatever they are doing as a team, we should all think about incorperating. Daylan Thomas - has had a great year, the pros are calling, very smart armwrestler. Chantal Leduc - has allways pulled very well, but since she has been trainning with collingwood i would say a marked improvment tough one there....

I know it will make his head swell even more and i will probably regret it tomorrow at practice but what about The Grippler for Promoter ( due to all his great videos) or for most improved He is relitivly new and has won against some great armwrestlers recently.

Put alot of thought into it and here it is:
Rookie : Brad Wade hands down
Most Improved : Shea Dickie continues to impress me! Hands down the most tenacious puller and I would think owns some of the biggest upsets this past year.
Promoter : Overlooked is Tamara Mitts. She travels widely internationally and is recognized and respected in and outside of Ontario. One of the top female pullers in the world she promotes Ontario constantly.
Murray Park : Never have I met a nicer guy than Garth "All arms" Carlson. For over a decade he has been a top performer and a friend to all. Consistency over time is essential to this award in my opinion!!!!!
