What a great event! Once again pullers came from far and wide to one of Joe's events and it made for a very exciting day. These are some of the things that impressed me: - Chris Gobby losing his first matches with Maksim (both left and right) but then coming back to take the finals after a long day of pulling multiple classes. He even won the bonus $100 for toprolling Jason in their supermatch. WOW!
- Hugh Brodie winning a number of matches, including finishing third in the right hand overall.
- John Milne getting two right hand wins over Allen Ford and taking the 198 right hand class in the process. John is proving to be an incredibly crafty and technical puller.
- Jeff Slater squeaking into the round robin playoff, and then beating Shea to finish 2nd overall.
- Jacob Windover is improving very fast, getting a number of great wins yesterday.
- Kyle Kerswill -- watch out for this guy in the near future. Strong arms and incredibly strong hands.
The points races have all been updated on the OAA site and things are getting interesting: I have taken the sole lead in the Male Puller of the Year race, but Maksim is very close. Laura Cook has taken the sole lead in the Female Puller of the Year. Though the Ottawa High Hookers made significant gains yesterday, we were not able to overtake Teeswater Thunder, who maintain a 2 point edge in the Team of the Year race. Western Ontario has reclaimed the lead for Ontario's Strongest Armwrestling Region. However, two regions are fighting for second place -- Eastern Ontario and Central Ontario. Central Ontario is one point ahead of Eastern Ontario. This is a massive improvement for Central Ontario over the 2007-2008 season, thanks in large part to the emergence of the Buckhorn Arms. www.ontarioarmwrestling.com/puller_of_the_year_standings08.htmwww.ontarioarmwrestling.com/team_standings08.htmwww.ontarioarmwrestling.com/region_standings08.htm

Thanks Dave for the attempt and being wise enough not to venture out when it was too dangerous. Winter is always nasty and we don't need a catastrophe because of a meet.

Good job on the event Joe! Definitely enjoyed the round robin. Mr. Gobby...always a pleasure to get a few wins over you; however you did outscore me in the finals. Will keep training hard to make sure next time i can follow through all the way. Great seeing everyone.

Here is a link to the story I mentioned from Saturdays Belleville newspaper... www.intelligencer.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1310901I like this story, but it makes me sound very insensitive, but tough though. The injury he talks about is basicly at the lowest point on the inside of the forearm. I think it is common for this area to have problems. I didn't expect his to turn black and blue, and have the level of pain he talks about. His arm is doing fine now thankfully.
