Hey guys, I was talking to an owner of a sports nutrition store, that happens to own a hotel in Pembroke as well, and he wants to put on a huge cash tournament this winter. The tournament would be an annual tournament just like Mike Gould’s, maybe bigger! Anyways I wanted some feed back from everyone about what would make this tournament HUGE. Like what kind of weight classes, Pro or Am or both, the format of the tournament double or triple elimination, super matches or not, medals trophies or just cash. Please give me all your input, we want to make this tournament something everyone will want to compete in or just come to see. Thanks Allen

I'm new to the sport so I don't really understand what goes in to putting on a tournament, but I did have a couple ideas. If you were to run both am and pro classes, then it should be cash for both categories. The registration fees for each would be divided for the winners of the category. eg. all amature registration fees would go towards winnings for the amature classes and the same with the pros. As for the classes i think 0-154, 154-176, 176-199, 200-221, 221 plus

I think that if I would run a tournament I would run it as a Pro and Am with triple elimination for the Am's and double for the Pros, trophy's for the Am's 1st-5th and for the Pro's trophy's for 1st-3rd and $$$$. I think that a Pro & Am tournament is great for all levels of armwrestling from a brand new first time puller to a veteran puller and feel that you have a higher % of pullers for your tournament. I commend anyone that puts there own time and money into running a tournament I have never ran one but someday would love to. Good luck Hitman just let me know when and where and I'll be there.
THE PROMISE

I like Chris's weight classes. Daylan I would make the pro class triple though. The placings would be more accurate since you'll be giving out $$$$..and Am's double or even triple. At least 2 tables going on also. I hate 12 hour tourneys.

So Far this tournament is a go!! We are just ironing out some of the details, so keep the ideas coming all will be taken into consideration. We are going to do Pro and amateur as well as triple elimination. This tournament will be in a hotel and really done like a professional tournament. What dose everyone think about having a slightly raised entry fee that may include a buffet meal afterward and shirts that everyone competing will be wearing? Please keep the ideas coming!

It all sounds good Allen . Till you got to the part where we all have to wear, the same shrit. If i'm going to go to this, then i'm wearing COLLINGWOOD ARMWRESTLING and no other. I think it would take away from the teams, that we have all worked so hard to promote.

I can see COLLARM 's point but we are still representing are teams by are intro's to the table, with a good MC I am sure everybody that is there will know where your from. I think that tourney shirts are a great idea. The tournament sounds like it is wrapping up to be something amazing. I can't wait for more info!!!

That would be the plan Daylan. I will keep adding info as things progress. We are looking at a date at the end of May, not the long weekend unless people think it would be a good weekend to have it? As well we are planning to have an after party and good deals on hotel rooms for people who want to party it up after the tournament, This would really help support the sponsors of the event and only make it bigger for next year! What do people think of those ideas?

Just an update on this tournament, Looks like the date of May 29th was no good for the sponsors of the event. So we are looking at next fall now. This is a busy year for armwrestling, tournaments every month....I can't wait!! ;D
