Anyone who is interested in competing at the Canadian Championships in Winnipeg over Labour Day weekend (Sep 3-6) can qualify in the following manner:
Attend the Provincial Championships in Mississauga on July 10th. Anyone who competes in the Provincial Championships automatically qualifies to attend the Canadian Championships. There is no need to place top 3, you simply need to participate. If you participate in the Provincial Championships in some way, aside from competing, you also qualify. This can include officiating, doing the brackets, conducting the weigh-ins, etc., but MUST be agreed upon with the Tournament Director (Mike Gould) in advance. A 2010-2011 Ontario Armwrestling Association membership must also be purchased by everyone attending the Provincial Championships.
Pay a penalty fee. Anyone who does not or cannot attend the Provincial Championships for whatever reason can qualify to attend the Canadian Championships by paying $100 ($20 for an OAA membership, $30 to the Provincials Tournament Director, and $50 to the OAA). Anyone wishing to pursue this qualification method must contact me by sending me a PM, emailing me at eric@ontarioarmwrestling.com, or calling me at 613-837-1724 (evenings). The $100 must be received by July 17th (one week after Provincials).
With its central location and Milke's proven record of putting on great events, turnout for this year's Provincial Championships should be the biggest in years. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Eric -
Does Ontario give automatic byes to masters and grandmasters? Is that up to the provinces, or is it a CAWF rule?

No automatic byes are given in Ontario. Everyone must qualify by one of the two listed methods. I am not aware of how other provinces handle this.
