What do you think of the following team points structure? - Unlimited number of team members
- Only best five placings at circuit events count for points (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th, 1 point for 5th)
- All team members who compete in a circuit event automatically earn 1 point (regardless of number of categories entered)
- Tournament Director, Referees, Bracket Person, and Emcee earn 1 point each (if someone has two roles such as brackets/emcee, only 1 point is earned)
These changes would allow smaller teams and teams at different ends of the provinces to better compete. If only three team members can make it to an event, they still have a chance to earn a lot of team points, if they all do well. Teams who do manage to bring more pullers will earn more participation points, but it will be harder to gain huge leads. Also, pullers who choose to work at the event rather than compete will still be able to earn points. Once again, the ultimate goal is to increase attendance at events, not decrease it. Would this new team point structure be a positive change? I think more teams will remain in the running throughout the duration of the season, and may lead to higher attendance at circuit events later in the season. With the current points system, it is easier to fall behind making it very difficult or impossible to catch up. What does everyone think? If feedback on the board is positive, I will propose it at the AGM. If you have any other suggestions, please post them.

The idea of limiting team size to ten already helps smaller teams be more competitive. I also think awarding only one point for attendance would also help smaller teams. I totally disagree with only scoring the top five placings. This is just to make smaller teams more competitive. It would be discouraging for a team of ten to be beaten by a team of three! If smaller teams want to be competitive they need to merge with other small teams or recruite more pullers. I agree with awarding scorekeepers, refs and tournament directors a point for their efforts.

I'm all for these changes. As it stands right now, there isn't much incentive to even sign up as a team if you only have 3 or 4 people (no offense to the smaller teams, I've been there too). Under the current system, limiting team size to 10 doesn't help a whole lot for a team that's less than half that size. Also don't forget, with the above mentioned revisions, it's no longer necessary for large teams to turn away new members. I don't think it gives any one team an advantage, it just levels the playing field so that everybody can take an interest in the team points race.

just my opinion but limiting teams to 10 people has its advantages .
teaswater has been team of the year for 3 years and out of that has also come two more clubs and thats not cause we dont get along where trying to get everbody we know to try pulling and from that where always bring new people to the big show.TEASWATER has 10 people and when i start my team THE MADNESS teaswater will fill the spots with up and comers that will blow your mind
Im not starting the madness to try and steal points from the thunder I'm starting the madness to bring back to arm wrestling what its done for me .
