A number of decisions were made during this year's Annual General Meeting: A new Team of the Year points system will be used for 2010-2011: - Unlimited number of team members
- Only best five placings at circuit events count for points (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th, 1 point for 5th)
- All team members who compete in a circuit event automatically earn 1 point (regardless of number of categories entered)
- Tournament Director, Referees, Scorekeeper, and Emcee earn 1 point each (if someone has two roles such as scorekeeper
/emcee, only 1 point is earned)
New region boundaries will be adopted: - North/East
- Central
- West
- South (including Toronto area)
The OAA annual membership fee will be raised to $30, starting in 2011. The entry fee for circuit sanctioned events will now be $25, with $5 going directly to the OAA. The 2011 Provincial Championships will be held in Belleville by Joe Gould. All women's classes at circuit sanctioned events will be triple elimination. The penalty fee for obtaining a bye to Nationals will rise to $200 starting in 2011. $30 will go to the Provincial Championships tournament director, $30 will go towards a yearly membership, and $140 will go to the OAA.

Umm I thought we voted on the possibility of having triple elim for womens, not mandatory? Actually I think is was just to allow something different done period. Others may have ideas, that must be approved by the OAA for circuit tournaments, but not have to wait for next years meeting for approval.

You're right. However whatever is changed or whatever rule is adopted for the women's classes should be consistent for all circuit events. Triple elimination is one possible change. Should it be for all circuit events or should we set a threshold like whenever there are fewer than 5 women in a class? Spacing women's matches out more evenly throughout the day is another option. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Ya I think fewer than 5 only. Or can we just say to the discretion of the tournament organizer?

I like your direction Eric. I agree 5 could be a magic number, combined with the throughout the day option. Would be nice to hear from some women on this topic?
