At this year’s CAWF Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg there will be a proposition put forth that would allow for a protest process at the Nationals. For those who are unaware, at the World Championships a puller may protest a referee’s decision if he thinks a bad call was made. A detailed description can be found on the Canadian board (you’ll need to be a member to see the thread):

Basically, if a puller is unsatisfied with the decision, while still at the table he can say that he wants to protest the call. He raises his hand to get the attention of the country’s team captain, who comes up to discuss the situation with the puller and the referees. If after the initial discussion, the puller decides he wants to pursue the protest, he must pay $50 for a third neutral referee to hear the case and make a decision. If the call is overturned, the $50 is returned to the puller, and the call is changed/the match starts over/etc. If the call is not overturned, the $50 is kept.
One of the reasons for having the protest process at Nationals would be to prepare competitors for the process once they get to the World Championships. I think the proposition is likely to pass, and may be in effect for this year’s Nationals. The cost to protest has yet to be decided, but I expect it will be somewhere between $20 and $50. In preparation for this, we must select an Ontario team captain. This person must have an excellent understanding of the rules of the sport, and must be present for both days of competition (Saturday and Sunday). Would anyone like to volunteer to be team captain? Would anyone like to nominate someone for the position?
