The Notre-Dame-du-Laus tournament was a fun little event. There were approximately 70 entries including kids, amateur, and pro classes. I don't yet have full results, but this is what I remember:
The biggest class of the evening was the amateur 176 right hand class, with 12 entries. Mike Roy, Team Metahook's newest member (not the Destroyer), took second in this class. Hugh Brodie had three wins in this class, on his way to a fourth place finish.
The middle and heavyweight amateur lcasses mainly consisted of locals, except for Pierre Madison who won the heavies.
The pro right 154 and 176 classes were won by Chris Gobby. Mike Roy (the Destroyer) took second in both classes. Joel Goodsell took third in the 176 class and Keith Steffensen took fourth.
Nicola Gazzetto won the right 198 class with two impressive wins over Allen Ford. Tyler Wilkinson took thrid.
I won the right 220 class. Antoine Dubreuil took second and Nicola took third.
I won the right 221+ class. Allen Ford took second, but got a quick win over me in our first meeting. Daylan Thomas took third.
The pro left 154 and 176 classes went down like the right ones did, with Chris taking both classes, followed by Mike. Joel took third.
Nicola won the left 198 class, with Allen taking second.
I won the left 220 class. Antoine took second.
I won the left 221+ class. Daylan took second. I think Pierre Madison took third.
Nancy Locke won the women's class.
Mike Roy won the 50+ class.
When the tournament was over and the prizes were handed out it was 1am. Many pullers left were their wallets a bit thicker. Chris and I were the big winners on the day, taking home $600 each. Everyone who placed left with the arms full of non-monetary prizes as well.
