I noticed that although African Americans have a huge impact / presence is fairly every sport out there, they are few and far in between in strength sports, especially arm wrestling. What's the deal with that? The only black arm wrestler that I have ever seen was Cobra.

Gary Goodridge from Barrie was recognized as either the best or very elite in 1994 - 1996 I believe. This was before he started doing UFC and then Pride.

Ah, true Jerry. I completely forgot about Mr. Goodridge. Thank you for correcting me.
Any other big names? It's seems all the big names are either White American / White Canadian or European.

Even in strongman events, you see a big trend in where the contestants come from. I'm trying to put one and one together here.

Gary Goodridge, Cobra Rhodes, Dave Hicks, and Johnny Walker are probably the most successful African American/Canadian pullers of all time. Johnny Walker dominated the 200 lb class between the mid-70s and mid-80s (until John Brzenk eventually beat him).
Garvin Lewis was awesome as well, especially with the left.
But you're right, as compared to other sports, there are relatively few.

Hence why I ask the question if the genetic disposition of African Americans is not towards strength

I don't beleive there's any validity to that. It's purely circumstancial. Look at the ratio of black golfers to white golfers on the PGA tour. Is that due to a genetic predisposition (or lack there of) to depth perception and hand eye co ordination?? All circumsantial. Also the few black aw'ers that competed were very very successfull.

Circumstantial? They are very few in every single strength sport out there...but they are a big percentage of sports like basketball and football. Sounds to me like a lot more digits than circumstancial. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but it looks too "pattern-like" to be a coincidence.
