Thanks to everyone who showed concern and who wished me a quick recovery on here or on Facebook. I had a 3 hrs surgery on my elbow. The humerus bone snapped at the joint and that's not common so a surgery was required to reposition the bones using plates and screws. Good news that it was a clean break so surgery went smooth and pain was minimum after. This is attributed to having good quality bones as I was informed by the doctor. My left arm is still in cast but cast should be removed early (next Thursday) although the bone would be partially healed . Reason is : it's the joint and it gets stiff fast so this is required to gain back the range of motion which requires Physiotherapy and time. Swelling is much less now (pinky is most swollen). Anyhow , I'll be back with my right arm but not sure about my left.

Rest up my friend! Try not to get discouraged. In 2005 I tore my right bicep. Rehab was like 6-7 months but it is stronger than it ever was.

Thanks guys. The gypsum cast was removed yesterday. elbow is numb and skin is swollen at the elbow around the long scar because of the surgery but things are much better now. Physio therapy will start early next week.

I had an appointment with the surgeon yesterday for new xrays to see the progress of my elbow. Recovery is going well and I was given the green light to start lifting light weights with my left arm.

Nice Fayez, nice to hear. That is a long screw going through almost your elbow?

Thanks guys. Yes, there are 2 long screws through the distal humerus. The inclined one and the other is the horizontal one going thru almost the elbow. They both help in closing the inclined fracture. the plate supported with 3 short screws protects the fracture externally. Gladly the surgery was done so well I've regained almost all of the range of motion without pain. There is no more swelling and I feel my elbow is normal as if there r no screws in. The ulnar nerve was slightly injured so there is little numbness around the pinky area but its improving. Nerves are usually the slowest to heal even if its minor.
