Can anyone confirm that the background picture of the Mike Gould Classic advertisement on the Inthehook web site is Gary's. I know Devon's picture is on the side but is Gary the one directly in the middle of the ad?

Just wanted to let everyone know that ive recently spoken with Jerry Caderette and he has cnfirmed that he will be competing at the MGC. He sounds very excited about it and is training hard. Should be an exceptional show.

I prefer the old MGC classes as well - 154, 187, 220, 221+.
For Arnold's classifications, the 187 pullers would qualify for the 198 class and the 220 pullers would qualify for the supers.
Regardless of the classes that are offered, though, I expect this tournament to continue to be Canada's premier pro/am event.
Can't wait!

Eric and Craig, I like those classes as well and i would consider it. Im trying to get a set of classes that will work for everyone and accomidate the arnolds. I am aware that 98 plus is a lg class but its important for me to see large classes not only financial reasons but its much more exciting. Theres nothing worse than 4 people to a class its kinda like everyone gets there own. I am open to this change and would like a little more feed back Please and thank you.

I like the classes you used from about 5 years back Mike: 165, 198, and open. In my opinion, fewer classes for big money tournaments is better because you can offer bigger payouts. And if you're doing three classes, I think 165/198/open is best.
But, because the MGC is a qualifier for the Arnolds, I think using the same 154/176/198/open classes makes the most sense. Why should someone who works to make 198 for the Arnolds now have to drop an extra 11 lbs to qualify?
I posted a poll on the Canadian board about weight classes. It might provide useful information to tournament promoters if we all voted.

I agree if three classes are offered then 165/198/199+ is best. But I think if flour classes are offered, there will be bigger numbers overall if the classes are 154/187/220/221+. As Craig mentioned, there are currently a lot of Ontario pullers in the 199-220 range. The supers class "may" be slightly smaller, but the 187 class would be bigger than the 176 class and the 220 class would be bigger than the 198 class.
If the classes are not changed, I will pull the supers, but I suspect others will decide to just not pull.
There's no ideal set of classes Mike, so just do what you think is best.
