If I'm able to get it in my vehicle without too much strain, I will bring a Thomas Inch dumbbell to Kingston. This dumbbell weighs 172 and a half pounds and has a 2.47 inch handle. Anyone who is able to do a one hand deadlift with it will receive a free entry to the 2011 Canadian Championships. It will be free to attempt.

If Mike The Destroyer goes he'll rep that thing 10 times with a smile on his face.

I'd be very surprised if he could lift it. His hands aren't very big. He's extremely strong at the things he does (ripping decks of cards, rolling frying pans, etc.), but this is different.

I know there tuff. I do deadlifts at the gym but i know i would never get that with a small grip. Can you lift it Eric? I will still give it a try.

The problem is not the weight...I have deadlifted 500+ lbs no problem. The problem is the grip is like a fat grip....when the weight goes up, your grip loosens, etc...

Indeed Bilal, the shape of the thomas inch is such that it will want to rotate right out of your hand. I predict that Shea and Bill will both lift it given their high rolling thunder lifts. I saw your video of you lifting it Eric, well done!! I also want to say that very few men on record have weighed less than the inch and have fully deadlifted it. It would certainly be a feat if Mike could lift it.

I tried it at the Arnold Classic Expo a few years ago. The biggest problems with it is the globes on each end. The whole dumbbell spin and roll right out of your hand and across the floor as you go to lift it on its globes and very low like a regular dumbbell . The Rolling Thunder is a shorter lift too and is less awkward to lift.

Shea was the first to fully lift it before the tourny.....most guys avoided it or tried and could'nt......John Milne put air under after the tournament as well as Devon and Eric

Brian Tamblyn also successfully deadlifted the Inch dumbbell.
I didn't see John lift it. Was it a full deadlift?
I don't know if Bill C tried to lift it.
Shea lifted it pretty easily at a body weight of 175. I think he'd be able to do it if he lost three pounds.

No video from yesterday, but here's a video of me lifting it a month ago: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Eh9lQub7hoShea, Brian, and Devon lifted it a little differently than how I lifted it.. They used a hook grip, where the thumb is on the same side of the handle as the fingers (while my thumb is on the other side of the handle).
