Very nice lift Eric! The thumbless grip taxes the wrist more, whereas gripping with the thumb... well... is very reliant on the strength of your thumb.

If you come to peterborough in Jan, do you think you could bring it Eric? My brother and I haven't tried it in a few years.

Rick held a fundraising event for Eves Druin last winter i believe, possibly early spring. I can't recall if it was the same grip or if it was thinner, but Mike Roy did three or four preacher curls with this massive device. I'm also not sure it was exactly the same weight but I believe it was in the same area. I would have loved to see him at the EOC to tackle this one.

I've seen some of Mike Roy's crazy dumbbells. He can do some amazing stuff with them.
In August I asked him what he could lift on the Rolling Thunder, and he said 140 lbs, which is a decent lift, but far from stellar. There is a high correlation between ability with the Rolling Thunder and the ability to lift the Inch. He said the size of his hand limits his ability in this lift. I assume this is the weight he can lift using a standard grip, with his thumb opposing his fingers. I wouldn't be surprised if he could lift more with a thumbless grip.

Eric, what kind of lift with the Rolling Thunder do you think would be equal to lifting the Inch?

I've heard lots of different opinions on this. Anywhere from 185 to 250 lbs. In my opinion, I think it's closer to 210-215 lbs.

Depending on how many people hop in with me on the way to Peterborough, I may be able to bring the dumbbell. However, the free entry at the Canadian Championships was a one-time offer in conjunction with the Eastern Ontarios.

What's your personal best on the r/t?

I am not concerned about the free entry Eric, I just want to lift the thing A 250lb rolling thunder lift is way beyond what you need to lift an inch, and yes a 210lb lift is more realistic.

My Rolling Thunder PR is currently 221 lbs, but I expect to keep climbing. What's yours, Rick?

Bill, do you train with the Rolling Thunder, or do any other thickbar-type training?

Bill that explosive, compact style of yours is deadly, and IMO the hardest move to defend(once perfected). After really watching your matches I beleive that with your excellent genetics and jack-hammer move you have world class potential. U just need a bit more refinement. I study ways to hook top rollers... And ur move initiated aggressively and timed perfectly is virtually impossible to get outside on.
