for promoter of the year i say AL aubin and to justify that will just take a peak at team of the year standings. in the top four standings we have 3 teams from this area who in some way or an other all tie back in to teaswater and AL. we never left his team because we couldn't get a long but there is so much potential in this area we want to expand it and that's what makes this area the strongest region

i would like to throw Don Sample out there for Murray Park. Not only does he cheer for everyonen regardless of what team they are on, but he is always offering helpful tips and tricks. If you ask me, thats what sportsmanship is all about.

Promoter- Joseph P. Gould Rookie- Tyler R Most Improved- Joel G, Guy W, John M, Bill C... Murray Park- this is tough- very subjective, and there are several class acts I know that deserve this one.

Don Sample is a great sportsman. While at the table in North Bay I could hear Don in my corner for a few matches. An all around good dude.

Murray Park
Eric Roussin. Always sportsmanlike, always professional, never loses his composure even though he takes some flack over his rankings etc.
Big Jeff Oosterveld. Menacing as a competitor but a very likeable and sportsmanlike man. You can ALWAYS hear him cheering (even if you have the sound off)
I'd throw Jeff Penney in there as well but I don't know how active someone has to be. It's hard not to really like that guy and I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to find someone who says they don't. Jeff would be a great representative of our sport.

Will the nominees be posted so we can all see who is in the running for which award?
Once they are posted it would be easier to state a case for our favorites. I know it is only the exec voting but it would be nice if we could throw our 2 cents in.

Mike Haigh (spelling) for Murray Park as well. Again I'm not sure if he competes or even has to. He's usually seen around the events and he's an awesome guy who always seems to have time to talk... even with ME. He always seems so genuine and interested in what's going on, he is quick with a joke as well. It would be hard for me to vote against Mr. Haigh.
I have a feeling that this award will be the most difficult to decide as there are several deserving men.

Great pick John, Mike Haigh for Murry park just sounds right. That pick has the "Big Pimp" seal of approval.

Has Rick Baarbe ever held the MURRAY PARK award? If not, then he's an obvious choice for it due to his years in the sport and his longtime friendship with Murray Park himself.

There's no official list of nominees. If someone feels strongly that a particular person should receive an award, then I encourage them to post on this thread. The members of the Executive with then each select their top three choices in each category, with three points being attributed to their first pick, two points to their second pick, and one point to their third pick. All points are then tallied to determine the winners.

Only the executives get to vote?? That needs to change. I did not realize. Must be my "head up a%s syndrome" "HUA". Members should nominate, executives select top nominees, and every OAA member votes. Stop this Taliban regime!

The primary reason why the Executive selects the recipients is that we couldn't determine a better voting mechanism. This has been discussed before, but if anyone has an idea of how votes could be collected in a fair manner, and tabulated ahead of Provincials so that we can get the engravings ready for the awards, please respond.
