Only the executives get to vote?? That needs to change. I did not realize. Must be my "head up a%s syndrome" "HUA". Members should nominate, executives select top nominees, and every OAA member votes. Stop this Taliban regime! ( whispers to the President in his best clandestine voice) "This sounds like an anarchist ... let's get rid of him"

Promo of the Year- Joe Gould (Taken Arm Melter Series to the EXTREME!!!!!!) Rook of the Year- Tyler Robinson (nuff said) Most Improved- Janet Riehle (Nearly flawless year of pulling, started pulling mens 155'sthis year, I know she's my wife but really who else do you know that goes around lifting tractor tires off the ground!!!!! except maybe crazy george. lol Murray Park- Al Aubin (Al has spawned enough armwrestlers in this sport to create 3 very successful armwrestling teams and doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon with new additions every couple of months. Al's devotion to the sport of armwrestling on & off the scene is unmeasurable and that is why he has my vote)

How should the votes be collected?
By polls on this message board? This excludes OAA members who are not on the board. Also, some board members are not current OAA members.
By write-in votes (e-mail and/or snail mail)? This could work, but would not be completely anonymous -- but I'm not sure if this is much of an issue.
By vote at the Provincials using the ballot developed by Jason? This could be the best way. The engravings wouldn't be ready ahead of time, but I guess this isn't a big deal. I don't think the process of voting at the Provincials is ideal, because of the potential of regional bias, but for this type of thing there's probably not much danger. I think this is a bigger issue for votes regarding locations of future Provincial Championships.
What method do you guys prefer? I don't think any members of the Executive are currently too attached to the current system, so if there is a better way to do this we would likely be open to changing it.

What is the list of current OAA members? If you are on the list, vote. How many possible voters do we have? These people could vote on the board here. Eric , I think if we had 80% of the members voting on a poll, on the board, that would be more diverse than any in person provincial vote we have ever had (with the exception of this year likely). Done way ahead of time and with the least amount of time and effort. We have a good mix of the regions on the board. This could work well also for voting new executives and future provincial locations so they don't get lopsided by the present location. Should we have a poll to see if we should have a poll? Better Ideas? ?

That sounds cool but how would you control people out-of-province from voting? ?

Now should I make an offical ballot? How can someone be in the rookie of the year category and most improved at the same time? Rookie is someone new to the sport and most improved is someone who's had an improvement the last year (i..e has been arm wrestling before, but just started improving) A number of people in the rookies should go into the most improved category...my 2 cents... What's the definition of rookie anyways?? You want rookie? Dan Kadlec. Never arm wrestled. Made a huge impact. That's a rookie.

Good points Bilal. I don't think we've ever had a clear definition of what a rookie is? Almost like trying to figure out who should pull an amateur class and who shouldn't. I think of someone in their first 2 years or so of pulling as a rookie. I think it would be harder in this sport, the way it is currently, to define a rookie the way every other sport does. Maybe this should change?? Specific qualifications should be met??? I am not sure.

Most of the amateurs in the amateur segment are far from amateur, and just because they've never won an MGC, they can still pull amateur. They could have been pulling for 8 years but never won and would still be pulling amateur.

I think Promoter of the year should go to. Big Luke has been a promoter for over 30 years, 25 years of that has been supporting the O.A.A. He has held 133 tournaments Sanctioned, circuited, provincials and National events.
That's where my vote would go.
