Chris is right here IMO. "In a super match..." I think that's the best formula. Accuracy is key here, not results. As Chris said, beating the guy 9 times out of 10 moves you up, but a one off? That's tough. Too many variables. Keep it up buddy. See you tomorrow!

if that was the case, why would I have still been behind Joel Goodsell after I beat him 3-0 and still won a tourney after the super match...
again, rankings have 50% accuracy, 25% favortism, 25% unknown

Will, yes u beat Joel at ribfest. Since them Joel has made excellent gains and gradually gotten huge wins on top 154 Guys. It's my FULL and HONEST belief that If u two pulled next week.. Joel wins. To tell me that a % of my decision making is based of favoritism is comment on my lack of character and objectivity. 0% let me repeat 0% comes from favoritism.
Ok Jeff, lets do an exercise... Build me your hypothetical rankings in 154 for example, if only build on numbers/results. Ok here goes... With in the last calendar year, I have beat Dan, lost to Dan. Beat aslan, lost to aslan, beat Joel? Lost to Joel. Joel has beat maksim, lost to maksim, I ve lost to Roy, I've beat Roy, Vachon beat Roy, lOst tO Roy, Rej beat Roy, lost to Roy, Joel lost to Roy, beat Roy, Joel lost to Ryan, beat Ryan, stef beat Joel, lost to Joel. (I can go on). Ok cool, u now have numbers & results so structure me your rankings. Oh ya, and then we ll change 5-6 spots after each 54 event. Cool beans. Now that's a system. (sorry for sarcasm).

Favoritism is a poor choice of word, but rankings are somewhat biased u must agree on that, personal opinion must come into play because not everyone will have an opportunity to match up
I certainly don't think I'm above Joel right now , my comment was when I did beat Joel, he was then still ranked above me
But I do agree your doin a great job as did Eric with the rankings

Granted Will, you did beat Joel 3-0. Not that I want to speak for Joel or Chris or Eric in this case as I may be wrong, but I believe Joel lost a ton of weight for that match. Again, could be wrong here, but that may have something to do with it.
Reagrdless, that was 2 or 3 years ago?
Let's focus on what we have before us, and make the changes we believe we can make by challenging people ahead of us and winning. You already have your focus set on Rej and Mike left which I think is a positive way to interpret these rankings. I say go for it, and prove everyone wrong!!!

I thought I did prove it when I beat Mike twice at Nats weighing 130lbs

Pierre, seeking out that super match is in fact the best way to guarantee a ranking jump. However it's not the only way. That being said, I would love to see that match up.

Ok Back to what I said can we not use the Provincials Nationals and Worlds as guaranteed ranking changer? These only happen once a year each! All the other tournaments you can factor in what you want! I actually think you will be very good at this Chris. But we need some tournaments in place that will keep things consistent. You know in case you get a little to off track. I would seriously would like my ranking back. I should not have to do a super match to get it. Armwrestling is not all about supermatches, yes they do have there place and great entertainment value but they are not the main format of armwrestling! The tournament is where it's at it tests ones skills in a way no super match can. Unless you are trying to change the format of armwrestling completely, as well as the ranking system ( no one can take another's ranking unless you beat them in a super match!!) The fact of the matter is I am completely ready for anything when I am competing at the Provincials, Nationals, Worlds and you could add MGC and Arnolds to that too. I am assuming everyone else is too these are for titles for f sakes!! Because of this I truly think they should regulate the Rankings. Otherwise what is the point!!

I never said supermatchs are the only way to take a ranking Al. But it does eliminate outside variables. U could very well take a ranking from a higher person by beating them at an ARMMELTER, provincials, nats etc. Allan there is no set of concrete rules in sports rankings where points and circuits don't come into play.
College football in the USA in a billion dollar per yr sports industry. The BCHS is a board of people assembled to determine national rankings. Quite often the team that wins the national title game is NOT awarded the #1 spot in country. Because in any given day/game the victor is not neccassarily the "best". This is a reality when no point system is in play. Judgement and STATS determine accuracy.
There are many different scenario's that can happen in the next few months that can land you back in the spot you want (NOT just a s match).

I'm not trying to change anything regarding aw formats. I can care less if someone seeks out everyone in front of him or if he chooses to sit on his ass and feel bad for himself.
My only concern is to establish the most accurate rankings possible. Chris the aw'er has favorites, friends and loves triple, quad and s matches. Chris "the rankings guy" has NO favorites, no friends, Is partial to no format. He will put stats, peoples opinions, history, his own judgement into the rankings machine, pull the lever and believes what comes out is accurate.
