This really wasn't much of an issue until money was added to the mix. I say simply deleting the out of province pullers from the points is not good enough. Example #1 A resident could be eliminated by losing to 2 outside pullers simply by luck of the draw. Example #2 A dominant resident could be eliminated by 3 outside pullers. A good example of this would be if the recent open ladies class at last weekends tournament was a circuit. If Barb Zalepa drew Heidi Andersson in the first match Barb would be put onto the b side. Barb would then have to pull the loser from the next pair (Sarah Backman and Fia Reisek). Barb would be eliminated after losing her second match, receive no points and even place 16th out of 16! This example shows how a dominant resident who would otherwise have placed 1st would be eliminated and place last.

Jeff's right on here. I think he finds the correct solution to the ranking problem. Good thinking!

Rob, your example is valid and this scenario is technically possible. However the probability of it happening is low, and I think it’s worth taking the risk of this occurring for the benefit of attracting more competitors and giving pullers the opportunity to pull different people.

The points earned at an OAA circuit event contribute to OAA points races, but also CAWF points races. I assume other Provinces circuits are open to everyone. I think every Province that is competing for CAWF Puller of the year, should follow the same rule.
That being said, my opinion is, the circuit (not incuding the Provincials)should be open.
Also, Slater's idea is a fine idea, but, I don't think we should make that change, unless all other Provinces are as well.

I agree with the need for consistency across provinces so that points can be comparable at the CAWF level.
I can confirm that all provinces that do run circuit events open up the tournaments to people from outside the province. I'm just not sure how they tabulate the points any differently. I'll inquire on the CAWF message board.

I feel that if the sportsmanship is good anyone should be welcome just for the extra compatition, and we also know that the quebec guys don't often go to many other events here other them Mikel Goulds and by now everyone knows if you go to the east some of quebec will be there. But on the sportsmanship note I will add this was the first event I ever entered in a year ago and when I seen gobby pull up (witch I have no problem with) then lay down to give tyler a first place ( tyler did pull a solid second I don't take that away from him) but this did leave me with the thought why bother with the sport my team mates convinced me otherwise and that its not a comon thing I kept in the sport and found this true. I am here to stay now! Also when ever another event get held over the last year new people like my self read and post and get a warm welcome and invite into the sport and events, but I have seen more then once Gobby make a comment like he did to Rob about being amature and how he is a lesser puller for it (I am not miss quoting you Gobby like you acused Chris of I am showing my view of you after a year on the forum!)new guys will not feel welcome to the east..

Steve, I dont remember Chris doing this at the Easterns but if he did....... good on him!!!! The team part of this sport is far behind the personal acheivements. "This is sportsmanship"" at its finest.
My early recollections of team in this sport were of PPAW and I have not seen it duplicated since or yet. If I can lay down to give a teamate a leg up I hope I will. I have seen a few individuals play the team game to advance. You will see this more in the US. Its not a bad thing. Just not common in this "me first" world.
As far as Chris and his comments, dont worry he can take it as well as he dishes it. The gauntlet was laid at his feet whether he should be able to compete and he responded. Chris doesnt talk behind his hand in back rooms. He lays it all out. Feel free to fire back. I have more respect for someone who will back up what he says than for someone who speaks loudly on a keyboard then softly face to face. Hope I didnt offend. Just how I feel.

nope not at all Guy and as a puller I fully respect Chris and all the pullers in the sport its just some of the comments that got me.. Your point of view is interesting I can understand it for sure. I have not seen some of the earlier stuff like you mentioned but will have to look for it and see.. oh and as for being loud I am usually quiet here or in person LOL.

...and YES Steve, you misquote me as well. My opinion has NOTHING To do with skill level. I just used it to address him. FACT, you and he are AMATEURS. I ll get on this board and rip ANYONE who's opinions are selfishly based. This sport has little room for small petty minds. In the past I've even ripped into top Canadian and OAA executives!! In this particular sport an individuals attitude can hold him down as an amateur just as much as his lack of skill can... Think about it. P.S. Guy, your tits up in my book too!!
