Preacher curls with d bell. Only 90 degrees and up. Lower than that is a losing position.

Well the way I like to become a better armwrestler is ARMWRESTLE!! I wish i had the time some of you guys do to train in the gym, but seriously I don't know how much better I would be if I did?

You're kidding right? First, that workout took 10 minutes. Most of mine are under 30 and only 4 days a week.... sometimes 5 depending if I've had practice. You don't know if you'd be better? You know what separates you and all the ones above you at the worlds? GYM TIME. You are one of the worlds best Al, but you need to be stronger to beat the Europeans and the top level NA guys. Take a look at it this way. Could working out possibly hurt your performance? Now... Could it possibly improve your performance?

I agree with John. I think you could gain a significant amount of strength if you trained with weights. I would say that you were possibly the highest placing armwrestler at Worlds who doesn't lift weights. Think of how much better you could be if you added a bit of gym time.

I started lifting weights last week, with Tony Brooks. It feels great! Two days a week(in the gym), plus armwrestling. As soon as our bodies get acclimated to the gym, the two days could become three or four.
I am proud of my accomplishments in the sport without weight lifting, but, I want to get to a next level.
If it makes me a little stronger, I'll be happy. Also, I think it will make me more durable.
I agree, Allen, you are wicked, but the gym will make you even wickeder.

Great job guys! Gym time is always fun. Chris has the right idea though, never go beyond 90 degrees! Holding weight is also good.

I think when it gets to the top guys, everyone has great technique, everyone is fast, everyone can catch hits, etc...strength and power is what makes the biggest difference. That's when gym comes into play. That's why usually power lifters and weight lifters who transition into arm wrestling do really well...you can learn technique fairly quickly, but how fast can you get really strong?

Sorry Bilal I am sure you will find out how tainted this view is. Very few lifters or builders last too terribly long in this sport. I did not say none, but its the tendon time that is critical and takes the time. Hard to get it in the gym. One of the best benchers is now into armwrestling and has found if very difficult to make the transition, not only due to past injuries but due to the lack of tendon he had from previous work. Now trying to not use power to gain tendon. That can be the tricky part. Watch out for the little wirey guy in this sport. They can eat you alive!!! Wait till you grab Allen Ford, or Tom Mallet.

Finding a balance between dynamic and static training is something all pullers will struggle with. I beleive, the top elite pro's have found their balance. Can be very individualistic.

P.S. I was born to arm wrestle. I love this sport more than I ever loved lifting weights. I wish I met some of you guys 10 years ago.

I started in this sport with 15 years of weight lifting under my belt. And I agree with u Bilal, it's a great foundation to work with. But in order to be great in this sport ur training will need to evolve (as I'm sure it will). And the most important thing.... Can u and ur ego take serious ass kickings and periods of self doubt?? This is inevitable to all who trek through this path. Dispite the variables... You without a doubt are starting with advantages.
